Here’s a very simple, yet useful and powerful wall light switch by Waligh. It comes in a simple box to reduce the price, yet it’s just as good as any of the top line products. It can connect with Alexa (Echo / Dot / Tap), Google Assistant and IFTTT. It uses SmartLife app, which can be installed on any modern smart phone and tablet, you can also use SmartLife on PC by via Bluestacks emulator (but you can’t do first time setup via Bluestacks).
It works with 220 volts, so you can directly replace your old light switch on the wall without any issues. Wiring is very simple and can be done by anyone who knows basic electrics or has common sense, however if you’re struggling, then check out the video review below, where I show you exactly how to connect the wires.
Any further details about the product (app controls, setup, connecting..etc) you can find on the detailed video review below. Check it out!
These smart plugs / sockets are really awesome, this specific version comes with built-in electrical meter that measures voltage and amperage (shows wattage based on volts and amps), so it truly is “smart socket”. As per usual, it can be controlled via mobile app called “Smart Life”. You can set timers and schedules and group with other devices. Smart Life app also supports alexa, google assistant and IFTTT. Smart Life app itself has built-in voice commands, but it’s quite basic and you have to “hold to speak”, but works great and recognizes text just fine.
This is UK specific plug, rated for 2300 watts max and has overload protection, it turn the plug off automatically and sends you alert in case there is overload.
For more details and how to setup, check the video review below.
It’s quite simple device, yet very useful! This smart wireless socket can come in handy in many situations, such as turning on coffee machine, turning your lights off ..etc and it can all be done wirelessly, Smart Life app allows you to control this socket from anywhere in the world! As long as the socket is connected to your local wifi (which you setup in the app), then your socket is always online and can be controlled under your Smart Life app account.
On video I forgot to show the part in the app that shows electrical meter. This plug is capable of showing voltage and amperage that goes through the socket and can calculate exact wattage used. Also has monthly reports that shows how much power has gone through this plug during each month, it’s really neat feature! and it’s rated for 3500 watts max, so it’s more than enough to connect your home appliances to this (cooker, coffee machine, toaster, heater ..etc)

Recently I got my hands on a small VPN Router that supports WireGuard and OpenVPN protocols. It’s a tiny router that is powered via USB and it has other great features too, such as 3g/4g dongle tethering ability (so that you can share your 3g or 4g internet)
Best feature about this tiny router is that it supports VPN services, such as WireGuard which is provided by TorGuard online privacy protection services. Once setup, any device connected to this router will then automatically be behind the VPN, that includes all wireless devices. So you can connect your console, mobile device ..etc to it and have it protected by VPN!
It has 1x WAN port and 2x LAN ports, 1x USB for 3g/4g dongle tethering and even a SD card (not sure what it’s for). Another excellent feature is that once VPN has been setup, you can assign VPN on / off to the switch on side of the router, so with flick of a switch, you can turn VPN on / off. It really comes in handy. However wireless range on this router is quite poor 🙁 It’s advertised as “travel router” so I guess range is not that important. I was 5-6 meters outside my room, in my car and my tablet already had connection issues.
