VAC [valve anti cheat on steam] - false positives

Post by Sethioz »

just a warning to everybody who has steam based games.
VAC DOES give false positives. its confirmed now !
For whole year i only played svencoop mod for half-life. I didn't even had anything running with steam..
well exept msn, winamp, firewall and cmd sometimes.
I'm pretty sure that VAC gave false positive because i blocked it from communicating with my system.
When i entered game then steam wanted to communicate with ''csrss.exe'' (process) .. but i denyd it.
after blocking it for like 2 weeks ... i got banned by VAC. So my guess is that it had something to do with VAC scans .. so when you block it .. then VAC detects it as some unknown hack.

I also blocked this stupid ''gameoverlayul.exe'' from connecting into internet. I have no idea WTF is it .. or what does it do. but i doubt that it was cuz of that .. cuz i always blocked it. i got banned after i blocked steam from communicating with system.

just in case i mention that ... sometimes i also had some other programs running (cmd based programs)
also .. im using MCW - monitor calibration wizard. game is too dark .. and i cant bother to turn brightness up on monitor...so i just use tool for that. but ive used it for long time .. so i also doubt that this gave false positive. im still guessing its because i blocked this stupid steam from communicating with system.

Ill ask from steam if it can give false positive and post reply here.

gameoverlayui.exe is the steamfriends acces ingame, if you press shift+tab(i think those are the default keys) it opens your steamfreinds and overlay over the game :)

yeah now i know what it is, but it does not explain why it wants to connect into internet. i had it blocked and i was still able to use it...and see friends..etc. overlay simply lays over the game so you can see steam over game, it has nothing to do with connecting. VAC is just stupid and those retards have no idea what they do...i wouldn't wonder if soon they consider msn or even skype as malicous (cuz you can cheat in CSS with mic, somebody from other team can tell you where enemys are) and make you get banned for using it.

I would asume it would just overlay too, but it seems as if it replaces the default steamfriends while you're playing o__O
so basicly its useless crap that could be made a lot better ^^

Much like blizzard, If you read their EULA ...
They'll state they'll hook you up with their very own trojan.
The purpose of that is to check up on your stats and if you're truly cheating yes or no.
It gets you banned sadly ...

How do i know this? One of my members had explained me this ...
He had blocked what blizzard had implemented into their game.
And much like yourself, He got banned ...

He contacted them about it, And they referred him to the EULA ...
Yea, That's right ... Those fuckers are allowed to nest some fucked up lil trojan right into your comp that'll tell em everything.
Like, You buy the game ... You do what you want with it right? You own a retail copy of it ... You paid what? 60 - 80 $ /€ for that?
You do what the hell what you want with that right? You bought a piece of their share ... You paid what they worked for ...
Now why on earth implant something that totally disregards your freedom of choice? Like ... You choose whatever you do with purchased material right?
Alright, I know most of ya guys don't buy games ... Much like myself over here ...

But, Just think of the sense like ... As if you bought the game and that happens to you, Just like one of my members.

i doubt it spies like this. it can be made clear, but i don't feel like poking it much. poking VAC prolly means getting banned, well i have tons of accounts which i can use to test the scanning process, but don't really feel like it.
it could be done with olly or maybe monitor disk usage with filemon or something like that, to see what it really does.

VAC ofcourse ignores every word and says, you did use hacks or cheats. however i don't grow some kindergarden here, so i do not lie about such things on my forum, when i say that i did not use any hacks, mods (my own mods), or cheats. ALL i did was playing SvenCoop for whole year or even more maybe. as mentioned before..i did use fraps time to time (it is not a fucking hack you steam tards) and other thing i did was denying steam from communicating with my system files, using ZoneAlarm's program control.

There is one more thing bugging me, but VAC should not be active when you are not in game, but you never know those fuckers.
i think i had steam open while using colored aimbot on last chaos, but i can't remember exactly if i had steam open or not, however if i am not in game, then VAC should be disabled ! VAC should be only active when you enter VAC secured server, if its active all the time, then it is serious scam, i can hack and cheat all i want in my own server.

lately Nooblet reported that he got vac banned in AvP. as far as i know, avp doesn't even use VAC, but if it does, then i was right, that VAC is always active and no matter if you are in server or not, as soon as you use any hack programs (only run them), then it bans you. on steam forums i saw lot of ppl complaining that their modern warfare 2 got banned for nothing, so i expect a lot more of those false positives.

TeamRetox's vac disabler does NOT work ! VAC does the checks, if it can't load/access its modules, then it will ban you by assuming that you hack/cheat.

I have no idea why its happened, i was playing and hacking like for 4 months. Anyways, once (like 2-3 years ago) one of my accounts was banned, but this one HAD NO any games on it. I can recall it cleanly.
Also got banned once on account with GMod. I still have no idea why its happened too, but then i was playing i was having no idea at all how to cheat\hack and so on, and by what da fuck i get banned? Of cousre it have "false positive", thousands of them.

as i said here, my svencoop account got banned for nothing. ofcourse steam's reply is that you was hacking and VAC does not give false positives, but i know 100% that i did not use anything. i even know every single file in my computer.
i checked your account and it it seems that avp finally has VAC too. i still have ideas how to bypass it :) but that discussion will go into avp hacking from now on.

here is another retardness by those twats at steam. i was, once again, talking to them about FRAPS. i was asking if it gets me banned or not.
they like brain dead zombies repeating:
Only cheats (modifications designed to give one player an advantage over other players) will trigger a VAC ban.

If you have questions about a specific third party application, please contact the developer of the application for assistance.
everybody here DO understand that this statement is complete bullshit, right ?
let me explain.

1. only cheats > ok how do you know if it is a cheat or simply a program that acts just like "cheat" ? what about program that puts your local time on screen, extremely useful. ive wanted something like that myself. for example if i put food in oven or have a date, then i dont miss it ! using an alarm on cell or something works too, but its stupid. specially if there is no specific time, just around some time.
so VAC WILL ban me for putting time on screen, awesome, isnt it ?
so it means those TWATS on steam do not know what they are talking about.

2. how exactly developers of that 3rd party application know how VAC works ? how do they know, if VAC flags it as cheat or not ?
thats just stupid, they talk shit at steam

anyway i replyd to that thread and reported one of the sites that sell hacks for steam, their reply was:
Please note that you will not receive a notification about any action taken as a result of this report.
which pretty much means "fuck off, we not going to buy hacks to test, let them cheat, we dont care, we just want to look good in public and put our BLABLA WOWOWOW so idiots will belive us"
