I only recently started messing about with custom routes / events in forza horizon 5 and i noticed there's a "bug" that after you create custom route, then you will "miss" the first checkpoint, no matter how you place it.
I googled around and didn't find any solution, people been complaining about it since 2021 when game was released and even until now in 2024 people still complaining about it.
However this is not really as much as a bug than it is developers incompetence.
BUG:
this happens when you're creating custom route for point to point type races (sprint, street race, rally ..etc).
It happen specifically when your start and finish are in same place and you drive over it wrong way. i tested it several times and that's 100% the cause.
FIX:
this is easy, don't place your finish where start is. it tells you to drive back over start line, but this is only if you want to create a lap / circuit. if you're doing point to point race, then DO NOT cross the start line (it's where you start when making custom route), instead click the route menu thing and choose "place finish" and make sure start and finish do not cross paths. it means that don't place finish in a place where you drive over it before you plan on finishing the race.
if you're creating a circuit / lap, then make sure you drive over the start line the same way as you started the route, otherwise you'll get same bug.
