modem shutdown can be made if the attacker get the login config of the modem , he he do not have it then he can run"hydra" with a username and password list until he guess it . After that , he does not even need to log in thru web port 80 to shutdown the modem .
He can enter thru telnet config and mess all the modem connection configuration , witch shutdown your internet connection .
To de-autenticate all users of wireless he just need to use mdk3 and start sending de-authenticate packets to the connected computers to that specific AP , believe me that until he stop no one can get a establish connection true wireless .
If he wants to mess with lan network instead wifi , he just need to put your modem on a random static ip and on a different subnet , and you will need to reset it and configure it again to get internet again .
Destroying network is more difficult , as much as he can get is to knock out your router or modem with an interrupted firmware upgrade , but even that can be fixed with a little of knowledge and google search .
