True Crime streets of LA and NY

Postby jordan108 » Wed May 18, 2011 5:13 pm

Hi i was wondering if its possible to hack this game for example like an extreme free roam of going out of bounds i know theirs only 2 possible glitches and the city that are out of bounds are huge almost as big as the city in bounds the only problem is that you cannon't explore the whole of the out of bound city only some of it i am not great and hacking but i just wanted to know if anyone knows anything about how to turn the reset off so you can explore the city's in both games

i had streets of NY i think, the newer one on pc, but never tried to hack it.
turning off reset, is more like a mod, have you google ? also i dont think that its possible, because if you are not meant to be there, then it means that map is not made, you would most likely just end up falling thru the ground.
cant say much, check game files. maybe there are some editable files. like .dat, .sys ..etc. something that is understandable, there might be setting to turn it off in some files.

I have tried to google but had no of True Crime LA or NY and i know the glitch even though you con't explore the whole out of bounds city everything that is visible is solid same with New York i mean on the LA version there is a desert bit that i have been on but you con't drive far because it resets my guess was that the game was rushed and if they had more time it would of been a much bigger map

i have seen such games before and they never finish it, if you are not suppouse to go there. its just small bit. however as about auto reset, have you checked game files ?
look for obvious ones. like .ini .dat .sys ..etc

i took a quick look on google, this game is so shit that nobody is interested in hacking it.
however there are some trainers out there, try and see if they have the option. i have no interest in those games at all

it could be done by debugging and see what kind of function is for "reset" and then NOP it, however i cant give any details on how to find the "reset" function using debugger and i dont think memory tools do any good either, most likely the value is 0 when reset is off and when it resets its 1, but it changes to 1 only when it resets, which is like less than 1 second.

i have checked the game files there in PCM,RES,EPM,EPP and EXM i don't know if their is any type extractor that can open those files.

For what you said about the reset feature i have an idea about using using cheat engine and slowing the game down so the reset timer is longer so maybe i can find the values. I will try this and see if i get anywhere.

i cant help with files, but Luigi might be able to. aluigi.org
check there, check quickBMS. this is the tool for the job, but he might not have the script for those files, ask on forum if you cant find it on his site.
or if Luigi don't have script and can't bother to write one, then ask on xentax (they're game researchers).

as about that idea, it sounds excellent. however im not sure how much cheat engine can slow it down. try "L spiro"
as far as i know, it can slow down game even 1000 times.
first slow it down like 100 times, then use "freeze while searching" feature. if L spiro does not have such feature, then you can always use 2 memory editors at a time, slow down with one and search with other.

"freeze while search" alone might work too, if you make hotkey, but its better to slow it down.
also it might not be 1 and 0 at all (it was just a guess), if not, then just do unknown. its long, but always gives results.
ArtMoney is best for unknown, because it can use search type "ALL" takes like 30 mins to finish such search, but 99% sure to give results.

i would go for 1 and 0, if this doesnt work, then i would try 0 and unknown. which means that 0 when not resetting and "increased" when resetting.
again i suggest using artmoney and search type ALL if you get nowhere with other tools.

and finally i can suggest using SoftIce (ive never hacked games with it), ive heard that its very easy to debug something and find unknown instructions.

i had some luck with the slow down pause and search method the only problem when i froze all of those 50 addresses and changed to zero it crashed when it tried to reset me. my guess is that something else is stopping it or i should of just froze and left the value the same but i will continue to try different ways. i will also try the bms method to see if i get any further.

i know that i am getting somewhere with this it might just take time to find.

this is because you froze all of them, you need to try one by one. after every crash, you have to redo the search if addresses have changed, just remember that if you have 50, then 1st - crash, 2nd crash ..etc

after that you can debug and NOP out the instruction completely = no reset, but first you have to find the right address.

I HAVE DONE IT USING T-SEARCH ITS NOW OFFICIAL THE ADDRESSES I CHANGED TO 1 WERE
31FB94 = 1
31FBAC = 1
70888C = 1
BBBE5D4 = 1

all found by using 2 different memory hackers
Cheatengine= for slowing the game down
T-search for searching the value when the reset comes on (note make sure you pause the game when its resetting then search)

Its upto you now if you want to make this official :)

Update: The Code is 70888C it stops you from driving/hijacking vehicles but that's the only way of exploring. it seems even if you set the value to 1 even in a car it resets so that must mean there's more than one reset address but it is quite possible to find it if you use the same method you could probably find it.

awsome, see how easy / obvious some things are. would be cool if you post it under game hacks yourself.
title: "True Crime streets of LA and NY hacks and hacking" or something like that. i remember there were 2 games, but i cant remember if streets of LA and NY was one game and other game was called something else or one of them was "streets of LA" and other one was "streets of NY"

obviously you dont have to explain how to use tsearch or any other tools, all of that has been explained on my wiki (knowledge database).
you can just add a note that "if you dont know how to use hacking / memory tools to hack games, then read "Basic Game Hacking" on knowledge database"
i can edit your post later and add few links to make it easier.

so its made by you and posted by you.

1 and 0 is most common, first computer language was/is 1 and 0 (binary). and it still works great these days. so you can try same method in a lot of games.
like in FPS games sights can be 1 and 0, flashlight, ammo counters, HUD ..and other stuff.

should i post this into game hacks or will you ?

I am not exactly sure where to put it because I am new to the forums sorry

by the way i also do alot of TDU2 hacking but i know this off-topic but do most racing games have unchangeable speed i tried to hack DRIV3r and TDU2 i did find the codes for the speed but even when I set a hotkey it don't make no difference

viewforum.php?f=49

indeed, enough offtopic here. i have driv3r and tdu2 hack topics already. check link above and post into new topics.
since this was solved CLOSED
