Vanishing Point 1971 and 1997

Post by Sethioz »

original Vanishing Point movie indeed is 1971, but its damn good movie. they cant make such good movies even nowdays, they screw it up all the time.
its amazing how good original movie actually is, considering the fact that its 1971 year movie. its even widescreen oO. i didnt even know they had widescreens back then.
for the ppl who doesnt what this movie is about:
Kowalski works for a car delivery service. He takes delivery of a 1970 Dodge Challenger to take from Colorado to San Francisco, California. Shortly after pickup, he takes a bet to get the car there in less than 15 hours. After a few run-ins with motorcycle cops and highway patrol they start a chase to bring him into custody. Along the way, Kowalski is guided by Supersoul - a blind DJ with a police radio scanner. Throw in lots of chase scenes, gay hitchhikers, a naked woman riding a motorbike, lots of Mopar and you've got a great cult hit from the early 70's

newer version of Vanishing Point made on 1997 year has almost same story, exept that his reason for speeding is his dieing wife in the hospital. story is very much a like, just reason for speeding is not same.

both movies worth watching. 1971 version is definetly one of the best movies made in that century.
and both movies having one of my favorite cars, Dodge Charger R/T and Dodge Challenger R/T, also one of the best muscle cars ever made !
if you know nothing about cars, you wouldn't understand. Challenger has an V8 Hemi engine, which was pretty much miracle at that time. even nowdays ppl use hemi engines over normal V8.
