How to add items into "new" right click menu in windows xp

Post by Sethioz »

There is tool called ShellNew, but it seems it cannot be found anywhere. original link is removed.
so here's how to add items into right click menu "new". it means when you right click and choose new -

here's the guide:

1. Start menu
2. Run
3. type in "regedit" and press enter
4. go to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT
5. fine the extension you want the "new" option for
-you can do this, by clicking CTRL+F (find) and then search for "keys" and type the extension you search for.
".zip" for example.
6. right click on extension you just found
7. choose "new" - "key" and name it "ShellNew"
8. choose "ShellNew" key you just made.
9. now on right side, right click and choose "new" then "String Value" and name it "NullFile"

now you are done with it. right click on desktop and go under "new" and you will have it there. If it didn't appear then close right click menu and try again. If it still didn't work then try rebooting your computer. Some registry changes only takes effect after you reboot. to me it worked when i opened right click menu second time, then i saw the changes.

-NOTE. if you can't find the extension you looking for, then you can make it. simply right click and choose new key (the same way you made "ShellNew". and also make sure you add . (dot) before the extension.
