sorry mates I am such a newbie....read the 3 articles you suggested. I rewatched the tutorial video and at the end you said that the "unlimited ammo" has to be disabled before moving to a loading point. Is this the reason why I kept crashing my game? If this is, here is another question. Here is what I have done.
1)find a breakpoint with olly
2)move back into game and fire
3) got the address
4)use Tsearch to write the script (following the format shown in the video)
5)Remove breakpoint with olly
6)back into game, unlimited ammo works
7)saw an alien and shot at it...after a few rounds, game crashed

please let me know which step I have gone wrong....again I apologise as I learn too slow.....

i think i know whats happening, it was same as with predator energy. olly breaks in middle of function, which gives you wrong breakpoint/value to add into script.

1. you do know that once you find the breakpoint, you DO NOT have to search again right ?
2. once you have breakpoint > attach olly to avp
3. right click > go to > expression
- or press CTRL+G
4. insert the breakpoint (address) you have found
5. click "OK" to go there
- make sure olly went to that address (you can repeat step 4-5 if it doesnt show the right address)
6. olly will place that address on top of the left window and highlights it, just in case, click on it with mouse and then use "UP" arrow to move up.
- if olly broke in middle of function as i tought it did, then address will change. for example if it was 123456, it might change to like 123455 or even like 123453
7. i want screenshot of that address, values and function. if that moving up part was bit confusing, just look at the screenshot where the address is. you just have to move up and then back down, so the highlighted address is not at top anymore.

Steps I have done
1)Use Tsearch to find a breakpoint address===> 1F5F65B0
2)Attach Olly to AVP.exe
3)Use Olly, Go to expression "1F5F65B0"
4)Find the address, which is highlighted
5)Press the "UP" arrow button on keyboard
6)See something like ===> "1F5F65AF 2100 AND DWORD PTR DS:[EAX],EAX"

Please let me know your opinions. thanks

here are a couple of pictures. The unlimited ammo works for a while. After firing off a few rounds at the Alien, game crashed. The Olly displayed something like this.

first ones you posted are wrong. as i said, MAKE SURE that olly goes to the right address, which you didnt.
obviously that is not breakpoint for ammo, i can tell by the function.

on the next post, it is the correct position indeed.
i dont see olly crashing ?! what are you talking about, it says "paused" only.

why are you not using what it shows in olly ? the address you are using is "7AC572", but olly shows "7A4D52"
also why are you using some weird value to write as ammo ? why not put FFFF ?
like so "0xFFFF"
FFFF = 65535, which is more than enought.


Problem / solution is here:

it seems you are using the same memory location as i do, to write the values. this is the problem, you crash because something else uses that memory location and they conflict. you must find empty place in your game's memory.
but this usually crashes you instantly when you enable it, not after a while.

OR

you keeping the script enabled. as explained, you will crash if you keep anything "frozen". you enable > shoot > disable
thats it. this is most likely what you experiencing.

I was using 7A4D52 but not 7AC572. You used 7AC572 in the video.
You said the first picture shows the wrong address. I did realise this when I was attempting the hack for the first time. Because it is different from what it is shown in your video. However, I kept pressing "Go to expression" with the address I found in Tsearch (1F266460) and Olly took me there.

Olly is paused but every time I press 'Run" it instantly pauses again.
Basically, I was trying to copy exactly what you have done in the video. i.e. ammo number and stuff.

Well, it looks as if there is not much I can do with it now. I do suspect that the recent patches have altered this bit to some extent.

olly is pausing, not crashing. it has nothing to do with patches. you must learn to use olly, read what it says.
usually its enought to press shift + F7 (or whatever it was run with bypass thing).
pause obviously occurs every time you shoot, cuz olly will break then (in case you have set breakpoint).

make sure you dont keep ammo frozen after setting it to high value, thats what causing your game to crash

I have just tried it. I set the ammo to 9999 which is 461C3C00 in hex.
I got into the game. Fire a few rounds to ensure that the function is not on yet.
Pressed the hotkey, fired off a few rounds. Yes, it worked and I immediately pressed the hotkey again to disable it.
Shoot again and saw the ammo decreasing.

saw the same alien and shot at it. Again, olly paused.

So, am I the only one having this problem? did you experience this problem before?

first of, 9999 is 270F in hex. i dont know where are you getting those values from.
461C3C00 HEX is 1176255488. use calculator to convert. that simple.

there is no problem. i dont understand why are you using olly once you have written the script already ??
olly is suppouse to pause, there is no problem, you are just making chaos.
you dont need olly after you have the breakpoint. you made the script, its done, so wtf you using olly for ?

load tsearch and load script in tsearch
start game
select game in tsearch
press hotkey
shoot
press hotkey again

In Tsearch, there's a converter. If I type 9999 in the decimal blank, the hex on the left is shown as 461C3C00. This is where I got this value from.

okay I have just tried another time. This time I only used Tsearch.

Run Tsearch
changed the script ===> "MOV DWORD PTR DS:[ECX+10],0x270F)
got into the game
press hotkey
shoot
press hotkey again to disable the function
shot at the same alien and game crashed after a few rounds....again

use the calculator to find out the hex value of a dec value.

just make sure the calculator is on decimal mode then type in your number then click the h button and the hex value of your number will show.


what you have done is have use the converter with the decimal as a float value. have it on short if you use it again to find 9999 (or any other number upto 4 digits) and youll see the correct answer

i dont understand what you doing wrong, PinPoint can you test ? i dont have this game anymore. im sure it will work just fine.
do not forget what i said before about the empty location, it might be that game uses that part of empty space later on, so they conflict and result is crash.

you need to know how to use converter as PinPoint said:

if somebody is concerned of getting banned, but still wants to use hacks, there is a way.
i asked Luigi to write a small tool, to write in process's memory. it has to be compiled first ofcourse.
you can find breakpoints on singleplayer, then use pidwrite.
once compiled, it is a simple cmd based tool, which only accesses game's memory to write and then quits, which makes it undetectable.

here's the source code for it. it can be compiled using mingw, with this command:

memory address, isnt this obvious ?
data, you need \x before every hex value. example should be clear enought
data size, set manually. should be clear also, how to set it.

and YES, you must run this thru cmd, not click on it. it wont work by clicking on it.

after that, you can make a batch file (.bat) and make it execute it for you. for example one will enable the hack, other will disable. good as hotkeys, exept that you have to minimize, but there is a workaround, just cant bother to think of one. you can use some launcher programs, im sure theres something out there, where you can make a hotkey to launch a specific .exe when hotkey is clicked. so there's your undetectable trainer/hack for ya guys !

weapon customising has been patched but the ammo hasn't. cant change rate of fire, spread etc cant do the normal way
