really nice work Sambo. specially with the downforce, i need to test if i can make my KITT go over 700km/h now, with better downforce.
last time i got 600 or so and then it was clearly seen that it lost contact with ground and dropped speed by 20 or so.

however your excel method is still harder if you ask me. also i was unable to save with notepad or notepad++, because notepads do not reconize the symbols at end of file.
in xvi32 or hex workshop, both will remember about 10 last things i was searching/replacing. so whenever i open the file i don't even have to type 3B or anything, i just choose it from dropdown box and hit replace all.

Cheers! :)

As for the excel editing, I suppose different people work different ways. I guess it's good to have a couple of options to choose from.

I'm not sure what's happening with your notepad++ issue, it definately works for me, however I think I opened the file in Unicode instead of the default ANSI format. I'll check it again and post back my results.

Hmm, I think I was getting confused with standard notepad. I can't find any 'open as unicode' options in Notepad++, but there are in standard notepad. To clarify, the 4 characters a the end of the file show up as 'NUL' in Notepad++, but this doesn't seem to affect anything. I did have one instance where the 4 'NUL' characters at the end of the file didn't show up, but I think I just re-opened the file and they came back.

Hey Sethioz,

I took a look at your KITT settings and I think I've managed to get around the 500km/hr barrier...

The parameters I changed were:
{coef_accel}
{coef_grip}
{Cx_Height}
{coef_brake}

Basically there seems to be a kind of soft limit at 500km/hr. I hit this at first, but with the application of more brute force, managed to break through it :D There seems to be an actual hard limit which I definitely can't get past, but this could be a game engine limit. I'll let you test to find out what it is :D

Of course, don't feel you have to try my config, you might want to play around with it and discover all this for yourself! But anyway, it's yours to take or leave as you wish :)

Another thing I noticed when trying your config is that it seems to have the same bug as my Bugatti where the revs get stuck at redline in neutral. Does this happen to you on your system?

now i remember what was the problem with my notepad. it was not the symbols at end. it's the seperator. i think i saved it when it was on new lines (3B replaced). ugh i explained it earlier too and also i think it was symbols too. it might be the different format. however it takes me under 1 min to edit car on my choice (that includes extracting, decrypting, changing 3B, editing, changing back, encrypting..etc). thats on the case when i have tools open.

as about KITT, i got it over 650km/h in earlier tests. as i said, it is downforce that limits the speed, i actually saw how car popped off the ground (just lil bit, not flying or jumping) and then speed dropped and car fell back on ground. well wheels never lost contact with ground, but suspension went up a lot. when i changed car's weight, then it got better, but very hard to control and took ages to accelerate too.

it won't get stuck on redline when you use pedals or any other type of analog controller. when you apply 100% throttle then yes, it gets stuck, you either have to cut off engine or play with gears to get it unstuck. cause is simple > too much power.
only transmission that prevents it during gear changes is sequential.

im not sure when i try this, but ill sure update it once i do. i lost interest in TDU atm + i have very bad place here, i mean i have nowhere to put steering wheel. if i would put steering wheel on table, it would block half of monitor/tv doh. once ill figure it out ill take another look in it and make it go over 1000km/h.

..and plz try using EDIT button and adding "UPDATE" into your post when replying to yourself.

I had a thought. The current 999km/hr 'limit' may be just a display thing, ie; the speedo can't display more than 999km/hr. I didn't think about that before so I wasn't looking to see if the car was actually going any faster after the speedo hit 999...

EDIT: Ok, tried that again and it doesn't seem to go any faster after it hits 999, but it's hard to tell really.

Re: Test Drive unlimited - handling editor / editing / hack

why don't you use a memory editor/scanner to find speed address. the actual speed, not just speedo. this way you can see if it still increases or stops at 999.
note that in memory speed may not be 400 when your speed is really 400. it probably is some long value like 304293943.
bah i hate when ppl know something, but can't tell :( i refer to Racer_S @ tocaedit.com. he made a trainer with speed boost, but he never replys on his forum to question how he found the address or something :(
namely it is not so easy to find the actual speed.

Hmm, that's a bit of a tricky one as the speed is constantly changing. And yes, it is bloody frustrating when you know someone has the answer but you can't get it from them!!

Re: Test Drive unlimited - handling editor / editing / hack

specailly a simple answer :(
im still kind a confused how ppl find things like "one hit kill" or "speed on z axis - up/down".
as about speed, it can be found by doing unknown, then speed up lil bit, pause and search increased, then speed up some more and increased again, then slow down and decreased...you get the idea. or you can make hotkeys to filter for increased, decreased and not change (pause and do few not changed to eliminate some constantly changing values)
however there is definetly easier way to find speed in car games.

Can you help me ? I'm trying to decrypt TDU_CarPhysicsData but i can"t coz my tdudec_d_carphys has bat.txt extension and it only opens , I work on win XP , i tryed this with cmd but it does the same. How to do this?

pay attention what you doing, you do not need .bat file/s at all. it is only for making things work faster. i have .bat files so i can decrypt and encrypt by double clicking, so i can test very fast after every small change.

however in win xp, you can change extension either thru cmd or in windows:
1. in cmd type "ren tdudec_d_carphys has bat.txt tdudec_d_carphys has bat" < this renames .bat.txt to .bat
2. in windows, go to "tools > folder options", then "view" tab and uncheck the "hide extensions for known file types", now you are able to see extensions, just delete .txt from behind it (im quite sure i already said this in earlier post somewhere).

no, with the modified .map in order to allow modifications to you game. originally TDU prevents any changes to game files. look into my earlier posts, i have included modified .map (i did not made modified .map).

So what about online play with this changed parameters? can you tell what to do ?

Re: Test Drive unlimited - handling editor / editing / hack

You can't sync to the online servers using if your game files have modified performance parameters. Also if you did manage to do so, you'd get banned for cheating.

by Sethioz
read my earlier posts, i have explained that it is possible to do so with a memory editor.
you do not get banned for that, unless somebody manually bans you.
if somebody tells you that they ban your cd-key, then its the biggest bullshit ever. sending videos and proof to game developers will absoluletely NOT get you banned. i haven't played tdu online so i don't know how it works, but only way to get banned is when ppl voteban you or kick you out of server or something, but in that case you can always go back with different ip and/or name (depends what they ban, because they can't ban your cd-key from servers)

Re: Test Drive unlimited - handling editor / editing / hack

I mean that you can't connect if you modify the performance parameters in the game files themselves. I understand that you can modify them in memory. Atari have stated that they will ban people who cheat.

i think there's 60000 character limit. before posting, copy it into your notepad or something in case it doesn't go thru or something.
to make things easier and shorter, you can use code brackets. look above the text area where you see "Code" button. highlight your text you want to be shown as code and click it.
it can be useful to post long sections without making it look long, it will go into a scrolling box. i use that for car data and such.

if you want, you can write a .txt or .pdf format tutorial and i can upload it, then i can link to it in my first post (with credits ofc). like a complete tutorial/guide on what you know ..etc. just suggestion if you want.

Ok, I'll see how I go. I really want it to be in searchable text so that people can find it more easily. What happens if I go over 60000 characters? Truncation or server meltdown? :P

what exactly seem to be the problem ? you don't know where hardcore settings are located ?
if thats the case, then i don't either :)
i assume it is not different settings, its just 'mode' which will reduce grip and such, but i have no idea where its located. or how it works.
i suggest you to decrypt database and then open them all in notepad++ (NOT notepad, but notepad++), then search all open files for 'hardcore'
thats only idea i have atm.

you can always change tyregrip and such, but there will be problem. all challenges will be either impossible or extremely hard, because im quite sure that A.I. vehicles have no effect and also time based challenges.

yeah, would be nice if you post it when you find it, maybe ill check into it too.

Hi Sambo! Wasn't me who created the Police car mod. I think the Ford Maverick has so many fans xD

And indeed it is right Sethioz. The AI will not be affected by the changes. I think my problem will be solved by downloading some IGE race files for hardcore mode. Or edit the original IGE files to enable in hardcore mode.

Thanks for help!

umm not sure what you mean with this. however it seems more like modding, so if you up for it, you could post about that in Games > Mods and Editing.
I guess you could just play in hard-core mode and adjust the parameters from there...
what parameters you mean exactly ?

also about this police mod, if its available somewhere, isnt it easier to download it and then extract the whole thing to see what it replaces or changes ?
as you ppl may know, im not much into modding myself.

NOTE: if you guys feel like talking about tdu modding, then plz make new topic into "Games > Mods and Editing"
stuff about police mod and such. maybe a modding tutorial from Sambo :)
