Packet Editor for .bin Files

Post by Gattsu »

First and foremost, thank you Sethioz for the time and effort you put toward your community. All your advice, research, and work is greatly appreciated. It is kind of you to willingly share the fruits of your labor with your fellow internet surfers.

To the point, I've dabbled around with WPE Pro and Proxocket in various games, but I've been stumped by games that have run their process with a .bin file instead of the traditional .exe process. Both WPE Pro and Proxocket do not detect the process and will not capture the packets that are sent or received.

Sethioz, do you know of a packet analyzer that can grab the passing packets from a .bin process in Windows?

If you need examples, RF Online (or Rising Force Online) and Lineage 1 are two examples of games that run as a .bin.

uhm .. wpe pro should show all processes.
how do you know that they use .bin ? .bin is just a binary file and it contains only data, i don't really see how its possible.

proxocket records anything sent within the folder, at least should.

use commview and see whats going on there. commview shows you the process.exe that sends packets. i highly doubt it is handled by .bin file.
binary is not executable file, however i havent done any research in this area, so not sure.
