Looks like Steam re-patched. I got an email from Techland saying they fixed the issue. I don't even see any differences. Mod's still work. The version is still. 1.2.0 or 1.20 whichever it is...

This is intended for people who are new to batch or cmd files, or simply if you haven't been able to get Gibbed Bypass to do it's thing.

Alright, on to the part where most get stuck.
Traverse to your Dead Island directory, for example this is where mine is located;
"c:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\dead island\DI"
To make things more simple, make a shortcut to that directory on your desktop.
Inside of the DI folder, grab the 'Data0.pak' file, and make a copy of it somewhere else easy to find.
Open 'Gibbed.deadisland.crash.fix.hack.zip', copy all the files into your DI folder.
Now, right click on 'fix it.bat' file...not the notepad one....and click
edit.
Inside this file at the bottom you will see a command line with settings:
Gibbed.DeadIsland.FixZip.exe -v -o "Data0.pak" "Data0_MODIFIED.zip" "Data0_MODIFIED.pak"
Change that line to this:
Gibbed.DeadIsland.FixZip.exe -v -o "original.pak" "modified.pak" "Data0.pak"
Got it?
Now, notice we changed all three...and if you look inside the DI folder we don't even have those files right?...Right lets go fix that.... you can go ahead and save & close the batch file...
Now, make a copy AGAIN of your Data0.pak file inside the DI folder. You should have 2 of them right?
Rename one to original.pak
Rename other to modified.pak
So now their shouldnt even be a Data0.pak in their....our bypass program will make it for us.
Make sure you are being case sensitive because cmd lines are....
so if inside the batch file is Modified.pak, then make sure inside the DI folder you have it Modified.pak, and not modified.pak, because it may not work......
Alright, so were done right? No. Here are some tips.
-Don't mess with the original.pak file. Gibbed bypass uses this original checksum to fake the modified.pak checksum.
-Make sure you at least mod 1 thing inside of your modified.pak file, or the program will quit because the checksums are the same.
So, open modified.pak, inside data, scroll down to Inventory.scr....drag and copy that file to your desktop or work folder
right click on it and open with Notepad++
Now go ahead and use Sethioz's guide on finding some things to mod. Try not to change everything at once or you'll regret all that time spent and it doesn't even work or you screwed it up major.
Save it. Drag it back into the modified.pak Data folder or wherever you got the file from. Close that out.
Now you can run the FIX IT.bat file.
If you don't get an error, you did good so far. It will close by itself, and you will see it generates a Data0.pak file for you.
Now run your game. If it doesn't crash you followed along correctly. If it crashes re-do the steps carefully you missed something.
Then, check if your mods work. Sethioz is able to get more mod's work then me and I have no idea how.....but one reason is mine is thru STEAM so a lot of thing he can do, I cannot.
Hope this helps some of you guys. - Motex
