nVidia drivers bugged

Post by Sethioz »

Took me like 3 hours to find out wtf is going on.
i had 162.18 version before (for 7600GS, XP)
I downloaded and installed 169.21 (newest) and tried to play svencoop mod (half-life), but graphics was totally fucked up.

my firewall's program control popped something up, so i tought its because of that. i reinstalled drivers and also whole steam (half-life and svencoop), but still had same problem.

then i tried the new beta drivers. 169.28 version, but still got this shit.
so i finally installed 162.18 version back and it works fine again.

I am not 100% sure, but still quite sure that its only openGL bug. DirectX based applications works just fine.
When i changed the graphic engine in game from openGL to D3D or to software then it was also fine, but problem is ...D3D and software are like toooo old and it doesnt even allow 1200x1600 resolution. so openGL is best choice for svencoop (half-life). Well DX would be best, but its too old game to support it.

if you are not planning to use any openGL based applications then its ok to use those drivers i guess. If they have such a big bug in it, then god even doesnt know what else can be wrong. I also reported them about this bug...lets see if they fix it. I seriously doubt, those companys never fix anything.

wow they finally noticed and fixed the dual view bug, but i havent tested other features, so it still may have some bugs in it.
so version "178.24_geforce_winxp_32bit_english_whql" now works on dual view mode.

... and more. Drivers for 9500GT are kind a wierd. Maybe im going crazy, or maybe my monitor is going crazy, OR maybe its nVidia again. My screen is kind a like liquid or hot air, don't know how to describe it. It's not very bad, you won't even notice it from distance, but when looking it closer (like 8-18cm), then i can see it. Its kind a same effect when you hit your monitor hard enought to move it lil bit (not like HIT, but only enought to make it shake just lil bit) CRT monitor's pic will also move then, this is the effect is has time to time.

Other problem is that 9500GT's drivers doesn't have "dual view" mode, wtf ? This is seriously dumb, it has all other view modes, like clone, horizontal span..etc, but no dual view, which is best ofcourse to watch movies in tv.

yes you guessed it. MORE errors with nVidia drivers.
the 'hot air' effect is gone, but new problem.
when im using 'dual view' mode, then some games LAG like crazy on certain places.
one example is "SvenCoop", when using nightvision then game lags badly, like 2-3fps. svencoop uses openGL (D3D and software too if chosen) so nVidia still haven't fixed openGL part of drivers. this is so annoying. most programs nowdays use DirectX, but STILL, it doesnt mean that drivers have to be screwed like this.
