Win7 Login blackscreen

Post by Legu »

Hi guyz,

for 2-3 weeks i have some serious issues with my win7.

The problem:

If you click on "lock pc" or smt like that after cntrl+alt+del it locks ur pc. Everything fine. This way only people who know ur pass (should be only urself) can login. Now the problem is, that if i leave the pc for like 10-30min and i want to login, the login screen pops up. Everything fine. But after entering my password, the screen goes black and i cant do anything. I mostly need to wait 1-2min before the screen "comes" back. It is quite strange because like i mentioned before, the login screen is actually visible after using the pc again, but after the login it goes black for an unexplainable reason.

My specs: Win7 Home premium , 64bit version, no service packs, legal version.

Any ideas?

Rather strange problem indeed O.o
I don't use win7 so can't say much but check if there are shortcuts on your desktop that are no longer valid(their main files are either removed or deleted)
delete those shortcuts.
Also have you tried repairing your window?

I hardly have any shortcuts on my desktop. Max 2-3 basic ones that i use very often so they work for sure. I didnt try to repair windows. Also one thing to mention is that i believe it is because of dreamscene. Since i installed it, i have problems when i use pictures with the option "filled". So it is possible that it caused the problem but not sure though since installed dreamscene for like 4 months ago, and i have this problem for like 2-3 weeks ago.

Try these two things:
First, go to the event viewer and see if it tell you anything..If it does, mention it here.

Secodly, I want you to disable the aero transparencies and then see if the black screen thing happens.
To disable aero:

Start > type “services.msc” and then press the ENTER key.
Find and then double-click the "Desktop Window Manager Session Manager" service.
Change the value of “Startup type” to “disabled”.
Click the button “Stop”.
Apply and then OK..

1. are you using nVidia graphics ? if so, did this start after last update ? if yes, then you know where problem is. get rid of it and install old version back.

2. sounds like you have gay7 updates on, disable them and if you have gay restore on, restore your pc to previous state, before the last update (where problem started), then disable system restore.

I asked about nVidia, because im having similar problem after last nVidia driver update. however my gay 7 just freezes. 90% of the time when i lock the screen, then after while it freezes, however 2 days ago it was on all night and nothing.
sometimes it freezes even when i do stuff, but 99% of the time it happens when pc is idle (idle as no user actions, music playing torrents on, but no1 at pc), locked or unlocked.

3. if you don't have ccleaner yet, get it. run it with ALL options on (except wipe free space). then run ccleaner registry scan with all options on. reboot.

4. get auslogic disk defrag and run "defrag and optimize" on all HDDs, then run "check and fix errors" on all disks, on primary HDD it wants you to reboot, because obviously check disk cannot be ran while HDD is mounted.
This is important, because your HDD/s might have issues, gay7 by default starts to defrag and do other gay related shit when pc is idle or locked ...etc so it might be issue. if you havent disabled any of that gay stuff, then it might be gaying it up.

Hi, first of all thanks for the replies! Unfortunately, i have solved the problem before i saw the replies.

Now, lately i have installed rainmeter. For ppl who dont know it: It allows u to have some cool gadgets and stuff. Since i have it, i dont have this blackscreen problem. LOL. I have no idea how it is possible and why this blackscreen thing is gone just from installing rainmeter but it is ok for me ^^. I will never understand gay7.

*Btw i had installed the latest nvidia drivers* So i believe that those drivers fucked it up, but like i mentioned before i cant explain why installing rainmeter solved it. And yes i didnt install anything else.

It is not necesserely caused by installing rainmeter, it just changed some stuff and made it work, problem is still there and might come back if you change stuff. most likely its nVidia drivers. rainmeter interferes with lot of features so it must have disabled / enabled something so it won't touch the options that crashed before..etc.
