VLC lag / freeze

Post by Legu »

Hello there im having a problem with vlc player if i play any kind of videos. Its mostly working but sometimes the screen just freezes and its starts laggin and stuff. Im using win 7 , vlc latest update , (intel hd / gt540m , i5) anyone else having this problem?
I believe the buffer size is too small or something.

sounds like a weak computer problem, i have this on my old server machine that is 2.2ghz single core, 512mb ram and 256mb video.
when playing 1080p videos it lags quite a lot, however only when i seek manually. ive had some rare cases that it lags out of nowhere, but very rare.

i use BSPlayer tho, a lot better than VLC, it doesnt lag during the movie. it might be codecs problem too, bsplayer has other issues, but either its codecs or your pc is just too weak. what your pc specs ?

i use vlc for everything.Uninstall it,run ccleaner and reinstall it. It should solve your problem.

must be codecs. i don't know why ppl like vlc so much, its complete shit. looks ugly too.
i use winamp for music and bsplayer for movies.

VLC has extremely retarded seeking, i press "very short backwards jump" and it goes 3 seconds FORWARD, not backwards and other way around, i have to double click and then it goes like 6 seconds back, not very short (1-2 seconds). i cant stand that shit, also it resizes the video window and wont remember the position.

google for codec packs, most likely you have corrupt codec. or you might have lots of spyware running free and slowing everything down. doesnt matter what kind of super computer you have, spyware, adware..etc always fucks it up.

Ye , but vlc can play almost any format. Also if u have subtitles it finds it instantly. Also it can play any vid with 400% sound , if u have a bad speaker. (Its mostly useless but a nice feature.

But bk to my problem, ye probaly the codecs, i will try to deinstall it and clean the registry too.

That's what used to happen in OLD versions. Now it isn't the same anymore. It do remember the position and do not resizes the video window..

Lega give us more details if reinstalling doesn't help..Like when the problem started?
did you do a repair of windows or you switched to win 7 just now?

When i wrote gt540m , well its a bit tricky. I have 2 cards. Intel HD , and gt540m. (Nvidia Optimus Techn) When using 2d things u use intel hd to save energy , when playin gt540m activates. Well actually it doesnt really matter cuz there is an option where i can choose , and it lags with intel hd and gt540m too.
I had this lag from the very beginning on. Its like first 10min no lag, then lag (some parts of the screen gets blur) then after 3-4 sec its gone. After 10-15min lag again. Not really a problem but sometimes annoying. Im having more lag and blur if i watch full hd or hd movies.

it's your video card driver it seems..reinstall those too.
2 video cards and of different compant and different model..Intel HD with Nvidia? O.o
so neither crossfire nor SLI :/ ..I have no idea about it :P maybe this is the problem.
