Windows LAN / Wireless error when changing hardware

Post by Sethioz »

Error given be windows 7 diagnose / troubleshoot problems:

"Windows couldn't automatically bind the IP protocol stack to the network adapter."

Occurance:
when tampering with network adapters / NIC
mainly when you replace network adapter or swap the PCI slot (might also occur using USB devices)

Cause:
it is not specifically windows 7 / vista, however XP does not have this issues, duo the retarded "security" measures of win 7 (gay 7) and vista it does happen.
however lets not blame it all on gay 7 and vista. problem causer is Kaspersky anti-virus or zonealarm security suite. other anti-virus software might cause that too.

Fix:
uninstall your anti-virus (kasperksy or zonealarm), reboot, install your drivers, make sure it works, reinstall your anti-virus / firewall.

NOTE - disabling or stopping your anti-virus or firewall will not help you, it must be uninstalled completely.

i had this problem when swapping my wireless PCI adapter for more powerful one. it messed up and when i put old one back, it didnt work either. now i uninstalled ZoneAlarm internet security suite, rebooted and it all worked fine !
... i spent 5 hours on this ! just because win 7 is gay 7 and gays itself up.
i specifically remember that i changed wireless card on my other machine that had XP and it did not have such issue.
