Re: Svencoop videos (half-life's mod)
well recording it with fraps or camtasia (pro tool for capturing : screen, webcam, mic ..etc) makes game LAG.
steam has perfect solution for it. it has the recording ability in it.
in console type ''record filename'' and it will make ''file.dem'' in ur game folder. Its viewable by typing ''playdemo filename'' into console.
since .dem is NOT an video file .. its the steam demo file (think its steam, cuz most games have it .. half-life, svencoop, cs, css, dod...etc) it cant be played with any player. Its just demo. you need all the models and maps to be able to play .dem files.
so what i do is:
1. record it using ''record'' command.
2. run game in window - 640x480 (so file wont be big)
3. play the .dem file and capture it with camtasia
so its not big. ofcourse theres some redicilous options in game ... like you can convert .dem into frames. each frame is a .bmp. i converted that svencoop video 1 into bmp files and it was like 5gb LOL.
what to do with bmp ? you can use some software to make .avi out of them.
i dont know .. i need to try it. because if i put 5gb of bmp files into .avi .. then it will be much smaller, but i seriously doubt that i can make 5min video take less than 50mb.
anyways just use record command ...and dont forget to type ''stop'' after u r done .. leaving it to record is not an good idea. you can think about converting after its done.
UPDATE : i also added .dem files into ''others'' cant bother to link it...
