only thing stuttering is ShadowPlay, i think it's because its compressing the video, i need to ask nVidia to DISABLE the compression of video files and have raw outputs, it would take tons of space, but no lag at least.
In other words, if i disable ShadowPlay, its nice and smooth.

2500k getting 100fps+ with what settings. you should first try the game before speculating. If I disable anti aliasing and shadows on low, i bet i would get like 300fps.

Bottleneck measn that CPU is not powerful enough to deal with game + feed the GPU, after all CPU is base for everything. Even tho GPU deals with graphics, CPU has to feed the stuff to GPU and tell it what to do with that info. Bottleneck is the slowest part of the PC, it can be anything from HDD, MoBo to GPU.
My CPU usage is 50% because game simply does not need more.

Going to try these drivers to see if it has any effect.

lmao @ 3:20
And also the blast / explosion.
Now watching that side by side really shows the difference.

If someone really have the brains, by now they would try to avoid buying Ubisoft games based on the trailers and previews released by them.

I tested the game on:
Pentium Dual-Core @2.51ghz
2gb ddr2 ram
2gb gtx 760

at first it was totally unplayable - around 15 fps on lowest.
With the new drivers it became somewhat better. Everything on Ultra except for Shadows(high) and Textures(high). 25fps along with stuttering but I guess that's not the cpu but the Ram.
I'm gonna wait till the mouse thing is solved with the game and play on i5 and 8gb ram pc since my controller doesn't seem to be working with the game.

That video is made by hater fucker who needs a BITCH SLAP in his eyes and mouth, if you check my Walkthrough here:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TRnd1mRdXfA
You can notice how similar it is to E3 and how far it is from that FAGGOT HATER piece of shit. He purposly turned ambient occlosion and such OFF to make it look shit. Even his shadows seem to be off or maybe its console vs PC .. whatever it is, that faggot WANTED the game look shit.

Wait what, you're pc has 2gb ddr2?? wtf.
but yeah, its RAM for sure. I think Soapy said he plays it on dual-core and get 30fps+

Your controller not working, is because they're forcing people to use gaybox controllers, just use the 360 emulator (x360ce i think) and your controller will work perfectly fine.
Check my tutorial how to use any controller in NFS Rivals, same method works for any game, but this is why got Razer ONZA 360TE controller, so that it works in every game by default.

I wonder how many ass kisses microsoft have given to those game developers to limit controllers only to gaybox 360 controllers...

He was also recording on 720p. But the explosion and focus are so different.
I can't play the game at 25fps specially while driving it stutters like hell but I can turn everything to ultra and see how it looks and walk around.
Actually even if the graphics were toned down during night and rain it looks amazing. (I stopped playing when we first reach our hideout by car, that place looks really good when it is raining).

yeah its 2gb ddr2 coz of the mobo I have in right now, it doesnt support ddr3. My new mobo and ram and cpu arrive by the end of June so guess I'll play this game then.
The game loads the entire city one go so thats why the high RAM requirement maybe. Loading takes a while as well so that might be it.

I tried x360ce and other 360 controller emulator as well. Don't know why they are not working. Till now they have always worked in every game that forces 360 controllers.

Is your gtx 680 4gb or 2gb? and are you running in SLI or single card? I forgot.. but didn't you rma one of your cards?

Edit: Also is your game installed on a SSD? I noticed on a pc when its installed on a SSD instead of HDD the stuttering just goes away.

I also tested 2560x1440 on friend's pc and the VRam usage is showing around 5.5gb on everything set to Ultra :) That's insane ahaha and if it continues then maybe 6gb cards will become the next 2gb very soon :D

Game needs a patch, i have no stutter, but after i have played like 1h or so, it starts to stutter and gets worse and worse. Sometimes rebooting the game helps, sometimes i have to reboot whole PC, no idea what causes this. I had few spikes that were like 1-3 seconds, i thought game crashed, but it didn't. It just does it randomly, but always after i have played for at least an hour.

x360ce doesn't work, because game is 64-bit. I remember this from NFS Rivals, i have to run 32-bit version and it works, with 64 it doesn't. You should contact author of x360ce (Racer_S from tocaedit i think), but he never replies, so i think everyone's stuck with 360 controllers. I'll ask Luigi if he can make some bypass to hook it into 64-bit programs.

I currently run it on single 680 with 2gb vram. If i run in SLI, i still have 2gb vram, but if no SLI, then it's total of 4gb vram.
I don't see how SSD or HDD can make difference, maybe if vram / RAM is used, then it starts to read straight from drive? ..uhm can't be. it would be idiotic.
It uses 5.5gb, because it has some sort of memory leak, maybe that's why i start to stutter after 1h or so, it has some bug and it has something to do with graphics/textures loading for sure.

One friend told me that for some it stutters because of audio lag, he fixed it by disabling/enabling something in bios ..etc. I don't have that issue, so never focused on it, but just saying .. it could be an issue.

I see no difference between high and ultra textures, here are 2 screenshots, i won't say which one is ultra or high, lets see what people think.
There's small difference in time, sun is in different place and colors are different, but textures are same.

1.png

2.png

But i confirm, Watch_Dogs is badly optimized, High tetures, rest on ultra, i get like 25-40fps and GPU usage is like 70-80%, so clearly it aint doing its job, there's a bottleneck somewhere and its not my hardware, CPU usage still around 50%.
So game simply doesn't go any higher.
Offtopic, but I noticed this in Crysis 3 too, I turned it on ultra and had like 50fps in one place, turned AA and such down, my GPU usage went down to 60%, but fps stayed still 50-55fps.

Seems like we're not even ready for 1080p gaming, so 4k is far, far away.

Is the screenshot below the one set on Ultra?

I'll post back if I get x360ce or any other similar gamepad emulator working.

The game stutters for me as soon as I get in any car. Well my hardware is the trouble here but I am not sure since while walking running it does not stutter constantly like it does when I'm in a car(even when driving nearly on walking speed).

Watch_Dogs seems to be optimized even worse than Assassin's Creed 3. Before AC3 there were no problems with Ubi games except for that mouse lag but still they ran as good as possible with no lags and stutters.

Wonder how they managed to run Watch_Dogs so well on that E3 footage, if it was not pre-rendered.

lol nope, top one is ultra. As i said, there's no visual difference. If you take a good look at the sand and tarmac, there is very small difference, but nearly unnoticeable.
Also cracks on those stone things on the right, they are bit more detailed on ultra, but again, if you don't stand there like 10 seconds staring at one place, you won't notice a thing.

I get stuttering on ultra, with 680 SLI both cards use only about 60% power, so clearly something aint right. If i turn Anti-Aliasing down (below the point where it says 2gb vram needed), then it goes to like 70-100fps with both GPUs 90-99% usage.
I guess this game wants 4-5gb vram to run smoothly, they need to optimize it, that's crap.

To best show everyone how vRAM is used, i made a pic:
vram-usage-on-wd-map.jpg

It's logic and common sense really, so those circles represent how much game is loaded into vRAM (those are EXAMPLES and has nothing to do with real Watch_Dogs). So the more vRAM you have, the more textures can be loaded into video card, making it possible for you to play game longer until new textures need to be pulled from your drive.
In Watch Dogs, textures take so much space, that on ultra, those textures are more than 2gb for a circle small enough for you to turn around in and move around, SO each time you make a quick movement, those textures are not ready in vRAM and therefore needed to be pulled from your drive, since your drive is more than 10x times slower than vRAM, it causes stutter / lag while new textures are being loaded.

This is also why: the more vram you have, the more game uses it. If you have 12gb vRAM, then lot of games would use up 2-6gb easily, if devs would design game properly, they would even use 12gb, loading all textures into vRAM so during your gaming session, there is no need to access your drive for textures, it would also reduce loading times when fast travelling / changing map.
Even in games like Watch Dogs, if you do a quick travel, game will load, that's what is being loaded > textures into vRAM. That's why in some games objects/elements appear late if you move very fast or teleport.
Some games are just so well optimized, that they priorytize the main elements first > like road under you, enemy players, vehicles ..etc and last things are useless objects, such as some small boxes, leaves, sky ..etc.
So in WELL OPTIMIZED game, you would not stutter if you have less vRAM, instead you would just see some objects appear bit later (like they would spawn).

there's also no visual distance in Watch Dogs, that would also solve the stuttering that is caused by vRAM. ..but again, as said, well optimized games just priorytize what you see, if there's not enough vRAM, then some objects are just put "on hold" and will be loaded once there is enough vRAM made free.

This should go under mod etc. but well still False E3 advertising and this is just reverting some things in .xml back to original so posting here.

E3 Graphics found in game files.
Well not exactly like E3 because some stuff was permanently removed [Like the wind/fog and the explosion - I think these were Physx] but some things including the distance blur/DOF which I liked from the old e3 trailer.
It's simple to enable these, just a copy paste.
Here's some screenshots:

4ujl.png

I tested it and went ingame to take screenshots-
Dynamic Shadows:
Watch_Dogs 2014-06-19 11-21-45-74.png

Watch_Dogs 2014-06-19 11-22-06-55.png

Watch_Dogs 2014-06-19 11-22-31-00.png

Watch_Dogs 2014-06-19 11-23-01-09.png

There is no performance difference.
Download the following, open ONE of the folder(I used Normal Camera) and put it in D:\YourInstallationPath\Watch Dogs\data_win64

I tried it already, i see no difference really. I did how it was explained, added the ultra thingy in settings and put the files into right place, looks quite same to me.
can anyone confirm?

I copied the patch.dat and patch.fat from Normal Camera folder to data_win64 folder and it is working.

During day there isnt much of a difference other than DOF, during night and rain is when real difference appears such as the dynamic shadows and even better DOF.

no it doesn't work, you have to also change the profile manually in order to enable this. that quality from pc_render to ultra or something like that, game itself never changes it, you have to do it manually.

I didn't do anything else other than copy paste lol
Setting pc_render to Ultra only means to set game settings to Ultra, with which this will look the closest to E3 demo.
Well it doesn't work for you because an update for the game came out which have their own version of those 2 files so they probably got overwritten?

That guru3d page now have this:
There is currently no official release of this mod confirmed to be compatible with the latest version of Watch Dogs.

eeem ... nope, i haven't seen those files lol. uplay = gayplay, i have no idea how to update games via gayplay and steam haven't offered me any updates.

This is in the News on steam:

There s no doubt that discussion about the graphical fidelity of Watch Dogs has overshadowed the quality of the game itself, with many claiming that the open-world hacker looks no where near as good as it did upon unveiling in 2012. To add to the controversy, it turns out that many of the high quality graphical features used during that demonstration are in fact hidden in the game s PC build. They ve since been unlocked by a proactive modder.

Which is great in theory, but according to a newly released statement from Ubisoft, there s nothing cynical about their locking the assets from the vanilla game, and that users should activate them via the mod at their own risk.

The dev team is completely dedicated to getting the most out of each platform, so the notion that we would actively downgrade quality is contrary to everything we ve set out to achieve, a Ubisoft spokesperson wrote on the Watch Dogs website. We test and optimize our games for each platform on which they re released, striving for the best possible quality.

The PC version does indeed contain some old, unused render settings that were deactivated for a variety of reasons, including possible impacts on visual fidelity, stability, performance and overall gameplay quality. Modders are usually creative and passionate players, and while we appreciate their enthusiasm, the mod in question (which uses those old settings) subjectively enhances the game s visual fidelity in certain situations but also can have various negative impacts. Those could range from performance issues, to difficulty in reading the environment in order to appreciate the gameplay, to potentially making the game less enjoyable or even unstable.

So that appears to rule out rumours that a forthcoming major patch for Watch Dogs will officially unlock those hidden features. We'll have to wait and see what the official graphical improvements bring.

Seems like bullshit to me really, damaging effects? like what? bring example with screenshot, no1 belives their cheap bla bla bla.

I think uplay updates automatically.

I read that earlier. I think it's all rubbish.
I played through the last night for around 5 hours with no crash or any problem with that "mod". If they removed what's not stable then why not solve the memory leak and release the game after it was solved? Also the ULTRA textures lag for me like hell, specially while driving so I'm back to HIGH. Since there near to 0 difference between HIGH and ULTRA textures I don't see how it works like a charm on HIGH but lags like hell on ULTRA, so that's problem too, why didn't they remove these textures then if these were also trouble?

The only reason I see here for them to opt for downgrade was so the next gen consoles dont look BAD.
They are still nowhere near PC and most console gamers who know nothing about PC thinks that their $400 consoles are like a powerfull PC or better.
This would even explain why they had on their site that game would run at 60fps @ 1080p on PS4 and later they removed this because it simply couldn't.

The memory leak in the game comes from the way console memory works (Unified memory or something, I don't know the exact term) someone from Ubisoft said, but earlier on they advertised the game to be as a PC game which would be ported to consoles. Now that was a lie since if that was the case we won't have the memory problem so in reality it was made for consoles then ported to PC.

I heard people say that Nvidia and Ubisoft had some issues working together, reason no one knows but due to that Ubi had to redo the work which was done by Nvidia and due to this things were rushed.
This makes sense as the E3 fog, more leaves on ground and explosion really looks like exactly like what PhysX does in Batman Arkham Origins.

Anyways, this mod actually does a very good job specially at the shadows. The modder said that the complete version of the mod will be V1, all the 0.x are beta so guess this will get even better. :)

I cant even get the update working lol, steam doesn't seem to update.

but yeah, this is bullshit what they saying, i think the same, that only reason they removed it is to make consoles look better. They feed crap to public, just like always and idiots believe it blind-folded, without asking any questions.

To those who keep thinking console is better, it's very simple:
power = heat
so if PC needs massive coolers or liquid cooling to cool down all that heat coming from components when they're under full load .. then how can console cool all that with 10 times smaller coolers? it simply makes NO SENSE. ofcourse tech is getting better and better, but that goes for PCs too. PCs will always be better than consoles, because if console can output crazy power without much heat, then PC can do even better because you can always fit bigger cooler into PC and keep it even cooler.
unless they mount an external liquid cooler into consoles, but i dont think they ever do.

I posted of someone who fixed the Ultra stuttering: viewtopic.php?f=56&t=1863

I have not tested yet but almost everyone says its working.
I feel like these modders deserve the money instead of Ubisoft as these people are doing all the work :P
