there are no hacks or exploits. as i said before, you cant start coding a website if you know nothing about it. i use firebug to debug a site and find what i need.
1. omg there is no hack. find it and delete it.
2. i dont have custom header
3. you change your directory name .. dooh.

Haha
1. Finding and deleting that line from overall_footer "Powerd by phpBB" does not work. The footer is still there.
2. You have custom header section in top where Sethioz and your logo appears! in left of search button
3. Dooh! Changing directory name from "phpBB" to "forum" gives me this error on my index page "phpBB could not be found at ./phpBB3/!
Please fix this error."

How to fix it ??

1. you think that if you delete it, then it magically appears out of nowhere ?? .. make some sense. if its there, you did NOT delete it.
2. i dont see any custom headers, cant help there
3. because you already installed it .. i told you like 3 times that you cant make a site without basic knowledge. reinstall or learn how to change it in database

1.phpBB has not revealed this on their forum too , but as in my concern, i can tell you that the information in the overall_footer is attached with any cache folder. but i dont know . Anyway i get it fixed using google.

Actually i deleted one line of code and not the file. so it didnt work.. even after deleting the text, the text was still showing on webpage.

i understand that we all have to start somewhere, unlike others i dont tell you to fuck off cuz you are stupid in this field.
but asking one thing over and over again will not help either.
i could do it on any phpbb3 forum and post it here, but reason why i wont, is that my site is for ppl who want to learn, not take and go.

so why not use common sense ?
1. if its there, it has to come from somewhere
2. if you delete it or change it, then it has to be gone

open ALL of the theme files in notepad++ and search for that text string, delete all of them, save file/s.
but i already know that this isnt the way, use firebug and find where that string is stored, then delete it. if it still shows up, use firebug again. if it shows the same place, it means you have cache problems, either on browser or site.

on phpbb3 (on main admin page if im correct), there is an option to "purge cache". do that and refresh the page and see if its still there. if so, then make sure your browser is not caching any files. you must set your browser to clear all cookies, cache, history ..etc on exit. most secure and best way to surf net without any issues like that.

thanks for the posts, i'm having the same problem as the previous one. I've followed your intructions twice and clearly but there still seems to be a problem, cause it is still there. thanks a bunch in advance!

what is your forum URL ?
I can't remember where it was, but im sure it's in one of the file's containing "footer" in the filename.
there are few if i remember correctly. something like "overall_footer" maybe.

again, best way is to open all theme files in notepad++ and simply search for it (not whole thing, but like "powered" word).
