talk about your computer or ask what program to use or what video card you like. others includes things like wordlists or color temps on monitor

Microsoft and the FBI = big failure

Post by XaneXXXX »

So I just upgraded to Windows 8 from Windows 7 because of my ultra slow laptop. Things do work a bit faster (probably because it's clean but still).
The first program I got was Truecrypt which I have used for many years, but I used version 7.1a and never updated since then.

When I went to truecrypt.sourceforge website I noticed the latest version was 7.2, installed it; tried to encrypt my drive. No matter what I did I always got "Truecrypt is not safe anymore please use bitlocker instead" error message. That message came up ALL the time. I downgraded to my previous version 7.1a, and then everything worked completely fine.

With that said, I just want to inform to all of you who wants your "secret" information safe. DO NOT, I repeat: DO NOT use Bitlocker. I'm almost 100% sure that there is a backdoor in it and if someone of high authority want to access your hard drive, they can do that without any problems. So stay with truecrypt 7.1a!
If you want to download version 7.1a, then look in attachments.

To be continued!

Thanks for the heads up Xane. This new age of a surveillance stage is just disgusting and will only get worse with the joke demographic that is the masses.

I totally agree. But the "hackers" are usually one step ahead of the authorities, if not five steps ahead. No matter how much they try and watch us, we will find a way to stay under the radar!

yeah, this is why guys like us exist :) to reveal their evil schemes and lies! ... and i was starting to think i'm evil .. pffft, i'm a teddy bear compared to those conspiracy creating governments and microsoft .. and crAPPLE.

This is indeed something I did not know about, i had no idea those idiots blocked truecrypt on win8, that's insane and retarded. i'm almost sure that bitlocker has master decryption key. In fact now i'm interested, i will see if i can ask my FBI and other government friends and see if they have heard of any cases where bitlocker was found on suspect's machine and see if they had the master key. i'm sure they do. i heard that apple can do this, they can decrypt and unlock your machine if necessary.

this is why it's called "TRUEcrypt", because there is no backdoor, there is no easy way to unlock it. There is rather easy way if PC is turned on, you can do numerous things to rip the decryption key from RAM, but you need some external hardware for that. there's also a way to "freeze" the RAM with liquid nitrogen, take it out, put into another PC and it should still be good.

Yeah It's so retarted..

and "there's also a way to "freeze the RAM with liquid nitrogen". lol i had no idea about that, really have to try it someday! :D

yeah well where do you get liquid nitrogen?
also keep in mind that you won't be able to touch it with your hands after its frozen and you have to be very careful not to chip it.
and you have about 10-20 seconds to pull it and hit into other PC that is running, it has to be some special PC that has additional "hot swap" read-only RAM slots. you can't just plug it into another PC and voilaa.

you'd need some forensic hardware and software for it. doesn't have to be liquid nitrogen, i think bomb squads use some special spray, not sure what it is. maybe it's some form of liquid nitrogen after all.

Well i know where to get liquit nitrogen if i would need it, i might just try this as a project some day. I will be very careful with it. Will post pics in the forum if i do!
Are you sure about custom parts?

I've read before about some guy using a "round tube" made of cooper i think, not sure what it was made off, But he used that as a mounting bracket. Then he just pured the liquid nitrogen in. Of course he had special gloves etc (he did it in a lab). But yeah you prolly need to modify the motherboard to get that tube to fit there tight..

Not sure if any of this is right. I was just looking fast at what it LOOKED like he was using :)

yeah you can use copper tube to cool the cpu, you can modify a normal cpu cooler i guess, take the heatsink off and put a copper tube onto it.

as about cooling RAM with liquid nitrogen and taking it out, i'm not so sure liquid nitrogen would do the job, it super cools everything and you might have serious issues taking ram out, it might get stuck. so you might have to use some tight rubber, slice it in middle and push it over RAM as collar so that liquid nitrogen won't touch the contacts.

but about custom hardware, YES 100%. think about it, how can you swap RAM without crashing the OS? as soon as you yank the RAM out, your system crashes. same with inserting.
you have to reboot your system and let BIOS detect it, if you do that, your PC will wipe the RAM. you need some forensic hardware that is meant to read RAM as a "usb stick". so you plug it in and it just keeps everything stored without letting it fade and lets you make image of current RAM. i have never seen such hardware tho, but i assume that's what you need, at least that's how i would do it.

well truecrypt goes and veracrypt comes.
I can confirm that veracrypt is copy of truecrypt, it uses truecrypt's source code and looks identical to truecrypt.
veracrypt also works on win 8 and win 10 ...

so much of governments attempt to buy it off hahaha ... it was open source, so anyone could take over and they did.
As far as i know, veracrypt is not very new, but it was made after truecrypt was shut down.

Also veracrypt can mount truecrypt stuff, so basically it's continued truecrypt. highly recommended. I just installed it on win 10 and gonna encrypt the drive with it. it also supports some other encryption methods for full drive.
