Rain interferes with wireless / WiFi signals ? ..wrong

I've heard many "professionals" blabber that rain interferes with wireless signals and with other signals too, however from my own personal experience i disagree, its been other way around.
I've been using WiFi for years and im not talking about connecting to my router that is in my room or next room, i mean coming across the street or even further.

Everytime it's dry and hot weather, signal is practically non existing, while when it's rainy weather, signal is always good.
Benchmark:
with dry weather - takes about 1-2 minutes to load google.com and can't do anything else, but use skype chat and browse (barely).
with rainy weather - speedtest.net got 36ms ping and 6mbit download and 1mbit upload, can easily play online games with low ping and download.

I don't know the details behind this, because those "professionals" say that wifi is practically like microwaves and whenever there is water, they try and "heat" it up and by doing so, you lose a lot of signal strenght. no idea where those stories come from or where are they taking it from.
probably just idiots who have never done any real life testing with such devices.

Also could be that rainfall itself makes it worse, but again even with heavy rain my connection is a lot better than with dry weather.
Most likely it is not the rainfall itself that makes difference, but wet surfaces, they must be reflecting the signal better.

It's kind a mystery, because rain should in theory indeed make any kind of signal worse, but it sure makes wifi better.
Another thing i can think of, is that rain stops long-range interferences, therefore making short-range wifi better.

If anyone has any ideas about this, post and discuss it.
it's very weird how wifi acts with dry weather and with rain.
