Ski-park cards *frequency recording* /Hardware/

Post by Legu »

Hi guyz, lately i was snowboarin and i find those cards really expensive. If someone doesnt know them i will try to explain how they work. Well first of all u need to buy a card, u can buy cards for days/weeks/ i guess even for months. Then there are some devices around the ski-lifts. You pass by without touching the device and you can use the lift. So i guess those things communicate through the air. I have been thinking...what if you could record the frequency of the cards/or transmitter? After recording u could send them back to the transmitter or vice versa, and probaly this way you could snowboard/ski for free!

What do you think? Is it possible?
I was thinking about posting this into "trash/spam, but actually i think its pretty hardware related

i think this should go into "dark side" but i keep it here for now, since it is pretty much hardware discussion for now.

i have never seen or heard of such technology before, but i can imagine what you mean. i need to see picture of it.
either find some on google, or better if you go there and make pics yourself. just make sure to make HD pics (at least 1600x1200 res > 2mp camera).

my first tought is that its magnetic, but again i need to see it. depending on the range. if you pass by close, most likely its just magnets. ive seen similar things on construction sites. you have a gate and card, you dont have to swipe the card, you just touch the "lock" with it and it opens.
or ive seen them on steel doors they use on houses. you have a small magnetic key that you only touch the lock with and it opens. not the actual lock ofcourse, but just a small pad.
if you dont have to even go close to anything, then im not sure. might still be magnet, but magents work from very close distances only (10cm max id say).

might also be something like car keys.
in this case it might use some encryption.

there are things called frequancy scanners, that can scan almost any frequancy and send it back. like GPS, radio, tv, wireless...etc however they are no use if encryption is involved. like GPS for example, it uses encryption and without encoder you can't do anything. otherwise terrorists would use them to crash planes and other GPS related transports, even satellites.

just get me some pictures (attach them to your post, do not post google or any other links)

Hi,sry for the late answer , (had some shit to do), anyhow unfortunately im not at the ski area anymore so i cant make any pictures on my own. I also tried to google some for you but for some unexplainable reason i couldnt find any D:

Well the best thing i can do is to make some pics when i go there again...
However now that u mentioned it, i think it might be possible that the cards are magnetic because the range(card<--->controll device) wasnt really amazing, like max 10cm.

whatever it is, there is always reader and writer. so if you can get a hold of reader/writer and see whats going on, you might be able to extend your card. just a tought. i would still like to see it first.
