feel free to post your temps here, but include the specs, because temps are very different on single, dual and quad cores.
mine is dual core 2.8ghz and video is 512mb 9500GT.
i managed to get my CPU temp down to 24C ! try to beat that on dual core :) and my rig is not on water cooling.
even on my old single core 3.3ghz i was not able to get it under 36C, normal idle was 43-46C..ugh. on this rig idle temp is 38C - 39C without the extra fans running (12x12cm in front and 8x8cm on side are with custom switch).

Re: Computer hardware temperatures
My cpu temp was between -5 and 5 degrees when the power fell off for 3 days in the winter when it was freezing outside ^^ try to beat that on a dual core :P

Re: Computer hardware temperatures
very funny, i was referring to a working cpu, not turned off. i can prolly get it into - if i put my pc into a deep freezer and turn deep freezer on max (-20C prolly or so).
Re: Computer hardware temperatures
Awww :P I dont know then and im too lazy to check atm(it used to stay around 40 with my old harddrive) so probably still the same

Re: Computer hardware temperatures
as ive always said, the size of the fan is not important or how many you have them. most important is the airflow, trick is to keep air moving thru pc, not into or out only. for example very good would be 12x12cm fan in front blowing air IN and 12x12cm fan at back blowing air OUT.
however i turned AC in my room on max cooling and pointed it down lil bit (aiming near pc) and then i turned on the extra cooling fans (12x12cm in front, blowing in and 8x8cm on side, blowing right onto the video card). this is how i got that low.
AC keeps air moving in room, so this is why it went so low.

Re: Computer hardware temperatures
I hate my laptop, it got so crappy fan and even crappier airflow system that it keeps over heating and then forces into emergency shutdown.... I'm not even gonna talk about certain games, such as Prototype, my lappy gets heart attack.

Re: Computer hardware temperatures
if you would put a 8x8cm fan under it, blowing air in, it should do the trick. can't remember, but im sure your laptop has lots of venting places, where you could mount that fan. and then lift it on something, so fan would have room to work.
also i just did quick search and found out that theres special laptop cooling devices, its a stand, you put laptop on top of it and it has a fan too, it uses USB. try googling for "notebook cooling" or "laptop cooling" (or cooler). however making one on your own, using either 8x8cm fan or 12x12cm fan, would be more effective.

Re: Computer hardware temperatures
i made new record. 21C for cpu. screenshots are below.
during that i once again confirmed that air flow is very important.
how i got my dual core 2.8ghz so low..well yeah i opened window, window is about 2 meters from pc. however temps did not go down that much. cpu was ideing around 29C, but as soon as i turned on the extra fans, it dropped down to 24C in 10 secs or less. thats because those fans took this cold air and vented it right thru cpu and other components.
my whole point is that .. ppl cant even get that low temps with liquid cooling, whats the fucking deal ?
if i got 21C cpu temp for 2.8ghz dual core with AIR only and those fans are not even powerful and placement could be better, i just dont need to get it lower, its fine like it is, but im sure i would get it down to like 15C with right fans and placement.
for example if i would use ducttape to close extra holes so air would only go where i want it to go and then put more powerful 12cm x 12cm fans in it. like 2 in front blowing air in and 2 at back, blowing air out and then take PSU totally out of case to prevent it from heating other components.
so i really do not understand how they cant cool down pc with liquid.
fans is one thing, but an AC would be other thing. they could build a small AC unit into PC, which would constantly blow COLD air into pc (AC = air conditioner) ..ugh developers are so dumb.
also check my cpu fan speed ! its ONLY around 570rpm. if it would be on 2000 or 3000, it would cool it down way more (its automatic).
