1423 wraps around three times,hits 295 on the fourth lap?

I was reading a novel "los angeles BB murder cases"
this part i didn't understood and cant find answer to it..the clue's were: “16, 59, 1423, 159, 13, 7, 582, 724, 1001, 40, 51, and 31.”
all of the numbers represents a page number of a book with total 376 pages..
I'm copying this part,not all of it,just the numbers thing.Now read this part from novel: "“Open it to page 16,” he said.
“Next is page 59.
“Next is page 295.1423 wraps around three times, and hits 295 on the fourth lap
They continued. 159 was page 159, 13 was page 13, 7 was page 7,
582 was page 206, 725 was page 348, 1001 was page 249, 40 was page
40, 51 was page 51, and 31 was page 31, and on each page, Misora
read out the first word."

i dont understand how he got 295 from 1423 and 206 from 582 and 348 from 725 and 249 from 1001 :p
anyone can explain?

1423 / 295 = 4 < 4 laps
3 and 4th is 295

I got it..what he did was 376 + 376 + 376 and then the remaining pages on the fourth lap came out to be 295 :D

this is unreal, windows calc is pullshitting .. i never even notice the mistake i made, what the F.

i did 1423 / 295 = 4
it means 1423 divided with 295 and calc said its 4.
but if i do 295 * 4 = 1180

what the F is wrong with that calculator ?
