GRID - hacks and hacking, trainers and others

If you do not know how to hack games, then take a look on my Knowledge Database and search for whatever you are looking for. like "basic game hacking" or "time hacking"

well i finished single player, so i started to look what can be done in this game.
first ofcourse i googled for ''grid trainer'' and found some intresting things:
-GRID trainer for version 1.0.
-999.999 drift points
-stop race timer (always first)
-100000000 money
-unlimited flashbacks
-get it in gear (cpu cars cant move at start)
-wrecking ball - other cars bounce from you
-increase acceleration (had no effect at all)
-decrease acceleration (also had no effect)
-increase handling (havent tried)
-decrease handling (havent tried)
-steering damage (should fix steering problem when you damage it, but havent tried it, i dont crash much)

this is trainer i found from cheathappens.
not gonna post them right now, but theres also similiar trainer for version 1.1 and for version 1.2 (will be released soon).
GRID version 1.1 does not work for me, it keeps crashing when i exit game. so it means i cant change my graphic settings and i cant play on FULL either. when i boot game it will be on FULL graphics and its LAGGING like shit. so when i change settings and try to reboot game .. it crashes out and boots up with old settings again.
in other words, i havent tested other trainers than only for 1.0.

Since this stupid trainer only gives 999999 drift points (its WEAK) i decided to look into it myself.
and yes STUPID trainer. acceleration doesnt work, timer does not stop, but fucks up numbers (it should STOP timer only not put some shit there). so basically its useless to me. timer stop is only thing ive used (its nice to have times like 00.00.32 online and im always first with such time haha).

anyways its very easy to make drift hack. i simply changed my drift multiplier to x1000.
-Drift hack video demonstration-
its easy. get a memory editor and search for the value :) you have to use debugger anyways, because address changes every time you change race mode or exit game ..etc.
dont really want to put detailed guide here, because there's too many idiots online and i dont want all of them getting it and then claim that they made it. so far i havent seen any BIG records, so probably im first and only one who came up with this hack.
Ill just sit back and see if somebody requests details here :) then i decide what i do about it.

UPDATE:

if somebody wants to get insane drift scores in single player, then there is a file you can edit :)
go into ''Grid\gameconfig'' folder and find the file ''drift.xml''
open it with a HEX editor and simply change what you like. (not, if you add or delete bytes, then game may crash. so you cant really replace 15 with 5. it has to be 2 digit number and you cant replace like 2 with 15, it has to be 1 digit number, at least it crashed for me when i did so)
i suggest you to make backup before touching that file.
here, i attached 2 files. drift.xml is modified. features:

1. perfect drift - before it gave you 20000 for perfect drift (close to flag), now its 95000.
2. flag radius - you dont have to go close to flag to get perfect drift
3. slower speed - your speed can be lower to get a drift
4. drift angle - before it was 15, now its 10.
5. combo time - now even a small drift gives you combo (0.1 sec drift gives combo)
6. combo hold - it takes 9.5 seconds for combo to disappear, so its very easy to get HIGH multiplier (if u dont crash ofc)
think thats all.

Update:

I found a way to change other stuff too. like handling, speed, acceleration ..etc
its not easy at all actually. changing is easy, but finding out what is what is quite hard. unlike colin mcrae rally 05 which i also hacked and edited, GRID does not tell you anything about game. theres just bunch of files with bunch of numbers in it. i had to figured it out myself what is what. wasnt easy at all, but as usual i came up with ingenious solution :)

Here's a tutorial on how to edit car/s.
1. handling files are inside the car folders. this is my path into "cars" folder:

now don't ask me what is "tra" and "911", because i have no clue. ALL cars in game are in this list. bonus cars are simply same car with other livery. for example take BMW 320si, its same car, just uses different livery. so modifying bmw will modify both of them. also dont ask why nissan silvia is s15 not sil or nsi ..etc. no clue, but s15 is silvia, tested it.

3. open any of the car folders (depending what car you want to modify). i will choose "sup" - toyota supra
4. there you will see "sup.CSV" file. (it may only say sup if you have already program that handles .csv files in default)
5. open that file with a text editor.
-ok as you see, its very messy and nearly impossible to understand it.
-here's a trick you can use to make it quite readable and understandable.
6. open "sup.CSV" with a text editor.
7. in your HEX editor choose replace.
8. replace "2C" with "2C 0D 0A" and save
9. now re-open "sup.CSV" with text editor (Notepad++ is HIGHLY recommended)
-noticed something ? now each line has one value.
10. change whatever you want and save (i will give list later)
11. now re-open "sup.CSV" with HEX editor
12. in hex editor replace "2C 0D 0A" with "2C" and save.
-why ? because if you leave it that way, then game will crash.

now your supra is whtever you changed it to.
here's a list of few known lines:

19 - 41 - acceleration/engine torque by revs
5 - 7 - some kind of handling handler, controls turn speed and such
Useful tips and memo:
-you can add gears, by simply filling 0.000000, (gear line) with a ratio on your choice
-you DO NOT have to exit game to change files. simply edit, then quit race and re-enter the race (i used test drive only, faster)
-fastest speed i have got is 705km/h
-i dont know exactly what controls max speed, but i think it has something to do with lines 19-41.
-do not change mass to 1 or lower. also dont change it to minus values or your car will be totalled before you even see it.
-changing mass lower than 500 will make your car kind a hover over track and nearly impossible to steer.
-i havent found downforce yet, but i think there is no such thing as downforce, its probably controlled by many other values.
-gear ratio of "1.213000," is quite enought to go over 700kmh, but something is limiting top speed !
-adding "1" before each acceleration line will make your car go quite fast, but still controllable.
-NOTE - any changes to data will also affect AI cars !!!
-NOTE - changing files will not allow you to play online with modified cars !
-NOTE - use Notepad++ to open the file after you have changed it with HEX, because normal notepad does not show line numbers !!!

I'm sure that its possible to get this working online, but i havent tried yet. i only tried to change mass, but it didnt work. I'll update once i try other things online.

another Update. i got it all working online :) if there's no intrest i will not post a tutorial. if somebody wants to know how its done, then reply in this topic.
in short you have to change the data using memory editor, not in files. ofc GRID's memory is far from readable or understandable by just looking at it, but there's pattern and its quite easy to find what you looking for after lil thinking. only thing that did not work was vehicle mass. on some reason i was not able to change it or maybe i just didnt find the right place, but i seriously doubt in that, because i was 100% sure it was right value i changed. if mass would work, then i would use it to make a ''turbo boost''. that would be awsome, but im searching for other ways to make it.

so yeah. you can go over 700kmh in multiplayer :)

here's another small update.
I got it working online, but i still have to minimize and change values. my goal is to get it working with some hotkeys. anyways here's a quick way to add +2 gears to courage c65.

only problem is that sometimes it occurs more than once in memory, so to make sure you replacing the right string. first search for:

first you find is the right one. then like 20-30 lines below it, you can find the right hex string to replace. as far as i know Tsearch cant replace memory like that. ArtMoney should be able to, but Cheat Engine can do it. i used CE for that and works great. its still long way..so blah.
ofc its fast enought to make it before the session starts online.

EDIT:
-i haven't done any research on it and i also don't know any tools that can replace one hex string with another (in memory, not in file). if somebody finds a tool that can do this, with a hotkey ofcourse ! then post it here ! it can come in handy when it comes to GRID hacking. then you can make bunch of hotkeys and basically then you have a trainer. This hex line is simple the part that handles courage car GEARS only. you can copy a longer hex string and replace it, so theres no dublicates.

Experience hack !
i actually didn't even think its possible, but ''Thuuning'' was messing around with the GRID and found out that its possible to make experience ''hack''. Here's 2 screens too.
look at the time online on both screens. it doesnt change. and anything else doesnt chagne either..only experience points. think we will make video demonstration too.

Nitros-G-Oxide = Nitros Ghost Oxide (NGO, N-GO) - thats me if somebody doesn't know yet. Usually i use that name in racing games.
so here's another shot where i have shit loads of experience :)

Here's more stuff. i finally managed to make TurboBoost hack ! its awsome. i actually made my car jump like KITT :)
also wrecked car in garage and threw it thru wall lol. will upload video and update this post.

i will post a file here that has lines with comments on what they do. Plz update and correct me if i have made mistakes with the file. all car files contain 360 lines ! so it doesn't matter which car file i use. What i really would like to find is GRIP, but i doubt its just one value. i think that you have to modify lot of values to change GRIP. a wheelie would be nice with mustang boss.

you sure you changed the file back into its original format ? all you can change is VALUES, but not the comma places or formation of file. everything else has to remain same.
this line method is for reading the file only. you HAVE to change it back to its original format.

but what you want to do with the supra exactly ? user Thuuning also found GRIP, but he haven't posted it yet.
also you still know that changing file won't allow you to play online. if you wan't to play online you have to do it with HEX memory editor.

Ileostoma: plz this is a hacking topic not a torrent topic. theres thousands of them, even on my site theres most popular torrent sites.

Hi everybody. There is some stuff i found in grid files to change grip to any car. Remember they found all CSV files in cars folder.

First look upper list what sethioz is updated here and look there line 8 and 9 these are grip/tires mass values and when you put value 1.000000 in line 9 then grip is best and then you gotta put value 0.100000 to line 8 and then you got incredible grip foe whole car..

if you wanna make WHEELIES put values like in line 8 to 0.400000 and line 9 to 0.100000

i really dont know perfectly how those values goes but those settings are what i tested in corolla (cor.CSV file)

tested lines 8 and 9, but i dont think its grip. i think its downforce or something like that.
Mustang Boss won't do a wheelie, tried different values, but it just wont do wheelie. i only got front wheels off the ground and thts all. it needs a lot of torque to actually make long wheelie.

EDIT: i also do not make changes in the .csv file, but i use memory editor and make changes directly in memory so they take effect immidiatly. once you find one of them then its very easy. .csv files will always be loaded into same memory range. my addresses all begin with some 344DE or 344ED. so i simply used the range of addresses and set it to 34400000 to 344FFFFF. so it searches values only in that range. i should narrow it down even more to like 344D0000 to 344EFFFF

Ok well TY for the help and i was wondering can u put up the coding for a mustang with high speed doesnt have to be super speed but higher speed than normal and can still handle good ty

I have been screwing around and i can get it right the acceleration is good but the handling is to strong or not enough i have only messed with the mass gear ratios and the 3 handling no.. make that the first 5 handling things

do i have to change the files from the 2c 0d 0a? back to 2c?
ofcourse!
HEX value 2C is , (comma). and it is seperator for values.
HEX string 0D 0A is 'new line'. so if you change it, then it will put each value on new line and makes it much easier to read. you DO NOT have to do this at all, but it just makes it EASIER to read the file. if you know what to change you can do it without replacing 2C with 0D 0A.

Here's also 3rd option:
1. you COPY car.csv (where car.csv is the csv file you want to edit) on your desktop (or whereever it is easily accessable).
2. now you change COPY of the file. 2C with 0D 0A
3. now you go into game and choose the car you wanted to edit (choose the car which you made copy of on desktop)
4. now open Tsearch (or any other memory editor)
5. open .csv file with text editor.
6. find the value you want to change
7. in memory editor click on search, choose ''float'' search type and paste the value there.
-it finds 10-200 addresses usually, but here's what you can do:
8. open HEX editor inside Tsearch (or any other memory editor that supports HEX view)
9. search for the "bos_v.2.5" if your car is Mustang Boss (each car has its own value there, this is wht to search).
-now in HEX view of memory editor look the address range where it is.
-for example in my computer and memory it would be something like 344EXXXX or 344DXXXX (where X is unknown value).
10. now look the found addresses. First address/es in same range should be right values.
-now once you know the range where game loads your CSV files, you can go into Tsearch options and do the following:
a. click on view
b. click on options
c. click on 'search' tab.
d. set 'Range' on 'user defined'
e. now set the address range where your CSV files are loaded.
-in my case it would be like this:
-Begin 344E0000
-End 344FFFFF
-it means it searches from 344E0000 to 344FFFFF. this should narrow your search down and finds no more than 20 addresses each time, usually it finds only 2-4.

it sounds hard, i know, but its not hard at all. its easier and faster than to edit .csv files and this method works online too..exept you have to find the values once you are already in race. sometimes it works when you choose car and then change, but not always. sometimes it loads .csv file again while loading into race, but sometimes it doesnt.
If you do it right, you are able to find and change values in less than 10 secs, which is quite enought to do that online. you can even set hotkeys..etc. and then simply replace ADDRESS..so hotkeys remain same.
-also as i said before. this method takes effect right away. after you change value it changes in game, but not if you change .csv file. then you have to load the car again, then changes takes effect.

I would write a trainer, but i really can't bother right now. besides i dont exactly know how to make trainer to find the .csv file each time it is loaded into memory. it is not loaded in memory all the time so its not that easy.
i have tons of ideas, but not really in mood to try them out.
you can try to find a tool that can replace whole part in memory with a simple hotkey.
-so basically it would be a trainer. you simply find the .csv in memory and this is what you search
-now you change it and copy it again and make hotkey which replaces this part in memory. (replaces default .csv with the modified .csv in memory).

I dont know much about hacking but would it be easier to just midfy the +11 trainer? it already has the handling and acceleration which is all im after ATM... Could be a long shut but meh

Currently after trying to mod the GTR my attempts well im actually just anoyyed and might go to bed its nothing special it's acutally crap the gears are wrong the handling i put 9999 for fun to see if there was any difference but not to noticable if you get bored and wanna help me make it faster and turn better feel freee to do so

no you cant modify an existing trainer. it is already compiled and cannot be uncompiled..if you would have source of the trainer then yes, but i doubt cheathappens would give it out. and also handling and acceleration doesnt work for me in that trainer.
a lot of ppl have asked me about GRID, i think ill make a video tutorial on how i do that.

NOTE - you should replace 2C with 2C 0D 0A or with 0D 0A 2C ..otherwise when you chagne back it also overwrites those empty lines at end of file and it may cause a crash if there is comma on empty line ! ofcourse you can manually delete them.

Here's tutorial on how to hack GRID using memory editor and HEX.
It shows you how to make TurboBoost hack. ofcourse i made it shorter and took out the place where i added hotkeys, but you can see what i have there. also i found a tool that allows you to run GRID in window mode ! ill attach it.

You probably think im a pain in the ass but if i lower the torque qould that reduce the whiplash he gets when i accelerate? ATM its a bit to touchy to try and race with so :? yer i tried to make the car a bit lighter and failed in that it doesnt really help but does help the handling IMO so yer made the wieght 700 using the file you supplied

Just try to edit the file and test what is what. NOTE that using the GTR file makes all GTR cars go faster, not only yours. Guess you using keyboard lol. Im using analog controller, so torque is not a problem. i simply apply less torque and its steady.
just compare the original and my file, so you see what was original value.

well since to me.. IDEA is the most important and making it come true. so ive done it. ive prooved that it is possible to make all of those hacks online, so now im happy with it, but if somebody finds a way to make a trainer or somehow use hotkeys on those memory hacks, plz go ahead and post.
theres one thing i would like to make .. antiboot, ive seen it, so its possible.
i also think i know the way its done..
you make yourself look as a Local client (session maker), so they can't votekick you.

Well i screwed something up now i must reinstal GRID i dont even have a clue whats broken but when ever i load up the game it crashes instantly it opens you see Race driver grid logo pop up then boom error i was thinking its cause i tried to screw around with the darn drift file but no its not the case now im lost for ideas so time to reinstal.

Any ideas?

The problem is if you open the drift file into a notepad normal the game shall crash anyone ideas how to undo that this could get confusing but if i open it (drift fiel) in notpade ++ it says NULL where numbers should be then i use normal notepad it has numbers if i close the file reopen in notepad++ it doesnt say null but the game crashes...

as i said, you cant edit the drift file in notepad, because notepad simply do not reconize those values. only option is to edit it in HEX.
im using XVI32.

911 - i had same tought in mind that its Porsche 911, but i never saw it in game. so i had no clue wtf it is. any ideas about "tra" ?

drift.xml - modified
drift_backup.xml - original file (version 1.0)
this stands in the comment box of the drift.rar file in my 2nd post in this topic. so it means that this drift.rar contains the original file too. you can simply download it and replace your corrupted file. this is the reason why HEX is used instead of text editor, beacuse text editors cant read some values.[/color]

Ahh but the stupid bit on my part is i opened both with notepad and didnt realise... anyway i now realise my mistake and well am a bit annoyed due to the audio files take a life-time to delete...

mh. what audio files ?
next time if you screw up some csv files, then post it. im sure me or somebody else can post them, so you dont need to reinstall it.

btw what car you made go over 800 ? its wierd, because i used SAME .CSV file...
first i edited r10 so i got like 650 or so with it, then i pasted whole csv file into the cha (dodge challenger) and it went up to 705kmh, so there has to be something else than only a csv file that affects cars.
and yes stability is a big problem. over 600 and cars become very unstable and start jumping ..and finally you fly out of control.

i found out what tra and 911 are.
"nfsboy" you was right about 911. it is the Porsche 911 GT3. so here they are:
911 - Porsche 911 GT3
tra - Chevrolet Lacetti stock
i also updated the car list (look aboce, earlier posts). i dunno y tra is even in there, because its some half made car. some details missing or something. it doesnt look so good, but its stock Lacetti, with stock rims and no tuning..etc.

you can also drive them, but you have to replace some other car with it. so simply make backup of some car and then copy tra or 911 folder on desktop, then rename ALL files inside that copy of 911 to something else (that car you made backup before). i used bos. so i renamed all 911 files to bos and then replaced bos folder.
911 has 6 gears and quite good handling. goes up to like 313kmh and looks quite awsome. however sounds didnt had any effect, it still had boss sound. i know that its held in the audio/cars folder, but when i replaced bos with 911...nothing happend.

I drive that speed in one second.. grip 1.0 backwheels and then i search value of speedometer and there found couple of values after long search and when push accelerator car goes in secon that speed... i know its stupid but amazingly FAST and possible get car goes normally that speed if search and change others values.. that - positive speed is biggest speed that you can get in grid.. its so big number that it goes in game minus postivie :D

But i gotta do lot of searches in tsearch so i can make tutorial or something like that.. but take value range search and drive car 010kmh and search value 009 between 010, then drive 008kmh and search value 007 between 008 and so on.. you found that meter value AND value for speed and others.. (how fast car moves ahead) Not torque or anything like horsepower, its just "move value" :D heh... .blah. .blah. .blah. <<<<----- HEHHEH nice smilie...


i have also found that speedometer only show 999kmh in game but still it goes faster...

wtf...it never worked for me in any other games. its float right ?! ..has to be.
anyways. try to find up-down speed. this will be AWSOME ! guess you can only find it while using my turboboost hack or when jumping on san frankisco track. ill try the speed too .. it gave me one idea :)

Hey would you be albe to make a custom car that the AI cant use lol? copy maybe the GTR file rename the files where it says GTR except for the models? its a long shot... Also can i get that drift file :D i suck at hacking/ programming and i wont share it unless told to do so by yourself

yeah i was thinking about unlocking 911, but that needs game modificiation and im not a modder (lil bit maybe). Game does not list the car and game doesn't even show the pic of it. maybe some modding site has tools for it. like gridjoint.com maybe.
if you want to change only your car, then use the memory editing method. the one i demonstrated in video. long, but it works, it lists all values. so for example if there is 4AI cars same as you have, then memory search will list values for each car, so you can even make one AL faster (your teammate for example). its what i did in garage lol..where i "played" around with both cars.

you can't change multiplier in file lol, because its not in it. It is a FUNCTION in the game, which tells game to add +1 or change it to 1. If you want to change multiplier in the files, then you need to be a GOOD game modder and you also need source code so you can compile it with new function in it.

Think i screwed my GRID up ... first it didnt load into race (just kept loading). Next time when i booted up GRID, i was able to get into race, but when tried to go back into menu..same thing, it just kept loading. If it keeps doing it, then ill uninstall it and not gonna install it back (i even dont have image).

Sethioz your Hack is brilliant bro :) It works like a charm first of all i didn't think i would have done it but i surely got it right you must start adding a payable script and make a trainer with what you do and ppl can buy them from you :D LOL KING SETHIOZ ROCKS

hehe. actually i don't doubt, that ppl would pay for hacks and stuff, but thing is .. i don't have mood lately. i just do what comes in mind atm. for example i deleted GRID at all. something messed up so it started to stuck on loading screens time to time and i needed some space too. so i deleted it.
as about trainer...haven't really made a full trainer yet. It's lil bit different than only making hacks. for example i don't really know how to find the breakpoints for those addresses, because values never change. but thats what i need for trainer.
maybe after a while i install it back if i get any good ideas :)

Cool no problem i'll check if i can get somthing up and going with your idea and some trainer makers i might be able to do somthing. I will see if i can make one that will work on grid ..so far i can only make trainers for small games lol but this will be my first big one .who knows mabe i will get it right :D Il post it here first. Its just the online That doesn't work with the drift file the online server kicks me out every time telling me i tempared with the game files. There is always a way to bypass that anyway.

you should read WHOLE topic. its been thru it already... there is no bypass for file check. you have to do it with memory editor instead of changing the file.

as about trainer:
1. try to make trainer for drift multiplier.
2. find the multiplier on offline (it doesnt matter, works online too).
3. now find the breakpoint of drift multiplier, from there you can make a trainer

so the problem is, how to find breakpoints for other things..like the turboboost hack addresses. ah u'll see what i mean..

i know its a long topic, BUT you can use search (browser's search to find words on page).
here, i will quote my own post:
also you still know that changing file won't allow you to play online. if you wan't to play online you have to do it with HEX memory editor.


It means, any file changes are checked when you enter multiplayer race. this is why memory tools exist, because memory is not checked. you should really read thru the topic. it will tell you a lot about memory and GRID.

i suggest you to make backup before touching that file.
here, i attached 2 files. drift.xml is modified. features:

1. perfect drift - before it gave you 20000 for perfect drift (close to flag), now its 95000.
2. flag radius - you dont have to go close to flag to get perfect drift
3. slower speed - your speed can be lower to get a drift
4. drift angle - before it was 15, now its 10.
5. combo time - now even a small drift gives you combo (0.1 sec drift gives combo)
6. combo hold - it takes 9.5 seconds for combo to disappear, so its very easy to get HIGH multiplier (if u dont crash ofc)
think thats all.

once again, you CANT edit a game file if you want to play online, you need to make changes in memory. Use Tsearch.
and for crying out loud, use "edit" post button.

Here's a quick guide on how to make drift multiplier, using Tsearch:

1. go into single player drift
2. drift to get at least x2 multiplier (or more)
3. search for the value. if you have x2 multiplier, PAUSE the game and search for 2 (use 2 bytes search)
4. now drift some more to get like x5 multiplier for example.
5. filter for 5.
6. now let it down on 1 or 2 again and filter for it.
-keep doing that until you find 1-4 addresses (really can't remember how much there was)
7. once you have the address, test if it is right. freeze it on like 20 and see if your multiplier is 20.
8. now use autohack.
-enable debugger
-open autohack window
-right click your address, choose autohack
9. go into game and drift or let your multiplier go back to 1
10. look into autohack window, you will get a breakpoint.
11. highlight the breakpoint
12. click on "disassembler" tab
13. right click the top line and choose "register"
14. now clcik on register tab and check the checkbox in front of the line you added
15. into replace box type the value you want it to be (values are in HEX!!!!! so you need to convert it !!!)
-for example - 144 HEX = 90 DEC (dec is what you see in game !!!, if you replace it with 144, then your multiplier will be 90)

NOTE - if you want details about how to do this, then check my OTHER video tutorials !

There's plenty of video tutorials on how to use debugger (autohack in Tsearch, and how to find breakpoitns and how to register them and change them) I will really not gonna retype all that. if you want to hack GRID, then you must do this part yourself :) everything you need is shown in other videos.

i did not check, but i assume you took that HEX value from csv file right ? game does not work like this, it won't be same as it is in game's memory. only gear ratios are same, but not the commas.
only problem is that sometimes it occurs more than once in memory, so to make sure you replacing the right string. first search for:
c65_v.2.5

this is from my earlier post, its for courage c65.
i can't remember what it says for DD car, but you can check it in file. so you first find that line (first one that Tsearch finds in game's memory) and THEN from that position search for ONE of the gear ratios.
one gear ration is over 4 addresses. so you even dont have to search for others if you find first one.
if first gear ratio is
49BC001 then next gear ratio is 49BC005. and gear ratios are FLOAT, in case you add them into cheat list (which is quite pointless, because they change).

you was on right tracks, but you can't take that hex string out of csv. you have to find that place in game's memory and take that hex string from there, THEN you can edit it.
I suggest you to find that place first, write down the HEX string and then edit .csv and find that place again with modified gear ratio. so then you have 2 strings you can swap around easily.
